Full job description
Company Description
Turner & Townsend is a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries.
Working with our clients across real estate, infrastructure, energy and natural resources, we transform together delivering outcomes that improve people’s lives. Working in partnership makes it possible to deliver the world’s most impactful projects and programmes as we turn challenge into opportunity and complexity into success.
Our capabilities include programme, project, cost, asset and commercial management, controls and performance, procurement and supply chain, net zero and digital solutions.
We are majority-owned by CBRE Group, Inc., the world’s largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, with our partners holding a significant minority interest. Turner & Townsend and CBRE work together to provide clients with the premier programme, project and cost management offering in markets around the world.
Owing to continued demand and our ambitious plans for growth, Turner & Townsend are looking to recruit Cost Intelligence, Data & Benchmarking professionals to enhance our capability in providing evidence‑based, data‑driven commercial insights across major infrastructure programmes. The role focuses on leveraging project, portfolio and market cost data to improve affordability, predictability and performance across capital infrastructure investment. You will support clients in making informed decisions across the full asset lifecycle — from business case and option selection through delivery, assurance and portfolio optimisation.
The North East & Yorkshire region has been successful in securing a number of long term frameworks supporting a wide range of major programmes and portfolios of work. We are flexible on location, these opportunities are available across the region within our Newcastle, Teesside, Sheffield and Leeds offices.
You will be making the difference for our clients by supporting them as an embedded resource within their organisation or through ad-hoc pieces of work for multiple clients across the Infrastructure sector as part of Turner & Townsend. Although our work is predominantly for regionally based clients, as workload requires, our people have the opportunity to work remotely (within region) on tasks for our clients both nationally and internationally.
Key responsibilities:
Develop, maintain and evolve infrastructure cost benchmarks across a range of sectors;
Analyse cost performance across assets, programmes and portfolios;
Identification of key cost drivers, trends and systemic variances;
Assist with the gathering and sharing of estimating data;
Support the automated capture, standardisation and governance of cost data across infrastructure programmes;
Work closely with Digital, Data and Innovation teams;
Support development and promotion of good practice within Turner & Townsend;
Assist in the achievement of departmental objectives;
Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to be able to give best practice advice in line with business objectives.
Key skills:
Strong understanding of infrastructure cost structures and delivery models;
Experience working with cost data, benchmarks and analytics on large or complex programmes;
Ability to identify meaningful insights from complex datasets;
Commercial awareness of infrastructure markets.
Qualifications
Experience in infrastructure cost management, cost intelligence, benchmarking or data analytics;
Background in consultancy, client‑side infrastructure organisations or major contractors preferred;
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Economics, Construction Management, Data Analytics or similar;
Progress towards or membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS) desirable.
