The Mentor Liaison will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and expansion of the mentor program including recruitment, training, and placement of mentors in all programs; communication with mentors and staff members, documentation of mentor activities; assistance with special projects and events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mentor Liaison:
Maintains communication and coordination with appropriate Youth Villages staff to evaluate volunteer needs and performance
Conducts ongoing assessment of volunteer mentors and mentor program
Communicates with mentors regularly and implements improvements
Conducts workshops to provide continuous training for mentors
Leads orientation and other trainings for new mentors
Maintains list for youth in need of mentors
Documents mentor program goals and outcomes
Develops plan to recruit new mentors for each program
Creates slide deck presented to civic groups, professional organizations, etc.
Recruits volunteers through speaking engagements, network connections, and requests generated from outreach materials
Screens, interviews, and matches volunteers with youth
Complies with standards set by the Youth Villages Mentoring Partnership
Performs other related duties as assigned
Additional Information:
This position is based in Nashville and requires quarterly travel to West Tennessee for events and team trainings.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a social services discipline (preferred)
Bachelor's degree in a social services discipline (required)
Degrees that can be considered include: social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy (others subject to review)
3 to 6 months of experience recruiting and managing volunteers (strongly preferred)
Experience with Salesforce (preferred)
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent written, verbal, and oral skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
