Responsibilities
Perform structural design and analysis for heavy industrial, energy, and mining infrastructure using applicable codes and software. Lead project execution by collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior engineers and designers.
Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Structural focus) and a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the Western US. Candidates must have 10 to 20 years of experience in industrial infrastructure structural engineering.
Full job description
At our core, we’re a community. Together, we exercise creative thought, developing engineering and designs asindividual as the people and projects we touch. From approval and permitting to design and construction management services, we put the goals of our clients and their communities at the center of everything we create. Join us as we assist mining companies in getting mined materials to communities around the globe. We are a leader in underground hard rock mining engineering and related technology, serving the largest, deepest, and most technically challenging mines in the world. This is where great ideas and rewarding careers are built.
Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer to join the Energy and Resources team. The successful candidate would have opportunities to work on a variety of projects within the Energy and Resource sector ranging from studies to detail engineering and construction support for projects in North America and across the world. This role would provide an opportunity to be a part of a diverse team while focusing on technical growth. Specifically, we are looking for a candidate that can perform and lead work related to Mining, Energy and other heavy industrial infrastructure.
This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. As a registered Professional Engineer, you will be responsible to work on various industrial projects. This role involves structural engineering design and analysis under minimal supervision. You would be relied on to make sound structural engineering decisions, and to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Your Key Responsibilities
You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
Perform structural design and analysis to applicable codes. Typical structures include heavy industrial/energy infrastructure, steel structures, and concrete foundations. The work would primarily support Mining and Energy related projects.
Develop designs through sketches, hand calculations, and structural analysis software models.
Work with Engineers and Designers (CAD/BIM) on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client’s needs and requests.
Interface with other disciplines and project management to execute projects per the project plan.
Provide coaching and mentoring to EITs and designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
Prepare and coordinate project specifications including construction documents.
Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or clients.
