Quality Engineer – 1st Shift
The Quality Engineer oversees all Quality Assurance functions at the plant level throughout product launch and lifetime cycles. Operating in a collaborative manufacturing environment, the Quality Engineer works closely with internal production teams and external customers to ensure products and processes meet predetermined technical and regulatory specifications.

Our Cambridge Division is one of Orion Castings' longest-running facilities. Founded in 1945, Cambridge has been providing contract manufacturing die casting worldwide for more than 80 years. Compensation: $64,700 – $86,600 / year (Salary based on experience)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
QMS Compliance: Ensure the organization's Quality Management System conforms to customer, internal, AS9100/ISO 9001, and regulatory/legal requirements. Direct the activities of the AS/ISO Administrator to maintain system integrity.
Standards & Procedures: Establish, monitor, and evaluate procedures for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, and safety across all manufacturing lines.
Product Launches (APQP & PPAP): Oversee APQP activity at the plant level regarding the development and documentation of Process Flow, PFMEA, and Control Plans. Prepare and submit customer PPAPs.
Customer Liaison: Act as the primary technical liaison with external parties on matters relating to quality, including managing timely responses to customer corrective action requests (RMA) and returned products.
Continuous Improvement: Organize, promote, and lead companywide quality improvement efforts using data collection, control charting, dimensional inspection, and experimental design techniques.
Work Instructions & Training: Oversee the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of Quality Control work instructions, and lead the training of value stream personnel in statistical methods.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Actively participate in production meetings with the sales, engineering, programming, and manufacturing teams to identify areas for quality improvement.
Team Development: Drive growth, track performance, and provide training resources within the quality department to support succession planning and internal career pathing.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of related quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally involving machining or metal casting.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions from extensive mathematical or diagram-based technical instructions.
Communication: Advanced written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively interact with, influence, and build trust across all levels of the organization—from floor production associates to corporate senior leadership.
Software Proficiency: Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Minitab statistical analysis software.
