Full job description
Director of Graduate Student Programming
Harvard Hillel
Role Overview
Harvard Hillel is seeking a Director of Graduate Student Programming to support students and faculty in building vibrant Jewish life across Harvard’s graduate and professional schools. Working closely with the Senior Director of Jewish Student Life and broader Harvard Hillel staff, this person will be the Jewish point of connection for hundreds of Jewish graduate students across Harvard’s thirteen graduate and professional schools and play a central role in strengthening community, cultivating leadership, and creating inspiring Jewish life for students at this formative time in their lives.
This role will have a particular focus on building a strong and consistent presence at Harvard Business School (HBS), Harvard Law School (HLS), and Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), while supporting Jewish life across Harvard’s broader graduate and professional student community. This is a highly relational and student-facing role centered on building ongoing relationships, supporting Jewish student associations, and creating meaningful experiences that help graduate students connect to, participate in, and lead their communities.
What You’ll Do
Build meaningful one-on-one relationships with graduate students through outreach, mentorship, and ongoing engagement, serving as a trusted mentor, connector, and thought partner as students navigate graduate school, Jewish life, and life beyond campus.
Cultivate a strong and consistent presence at HBS, HLS, and HKS through regular outreach, campus presence, school-specific programming, and community-building efforts.
Serve as Harvard Hillel’s primary liaison to graduate Jewish student associations, partnering with student leaders through advising, leadership development, program support, and ongoing partnership.
Create and execute a robust calendar of social, educational, religious, holiday, and community-building experiences for graduate students.
Develop both school-specific and cross-school opportunities that strengthen individual graduate communities while fostering broader connection across Harvard’s graduate and professional schools.
Recruit, advise, and support graduate student leaders and a Graduate Student Board.
Partner with students and staff to create new initiatives, traditions, and engagement opportunities that reflect graduate student interests and needs.
Track relationships and engagement through Hillel’s database systems and use data thoughtfully to support meaningful follow-up and long-term community building.
Manage graduate programming budgets, planning, and logistics.
Participate fully in Harvard Hillel community life, including Shabbat, holidays, and major organizational initiatives.
What You’ll Bring to the Job
At least five years of relevant professional experience working in Hillel, Jewish organizations, campus communities, community organizing, experiential education, or other young adult engagement settings.
Bachelor's degree required.
A warm, engaging, and approachable personality with genuine excitement for building Jewish community and meaningful relationships.
Demonstrated experience building and sustaining communities for graduate students, young adults, or other post-college populations through relationship-based engagement, mentorship, and community-building.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and levels of Jewish engagement.
Experience mentoring, advising, and supporting student or community leaders and helping translate ideas into meaningful programs and experiences.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, programs, and relationships simultaneously.
Comfort working independently, taking initiative, identifying opportunities, and following through.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Curiosity, flexibility, and excitement about building vibrant Jewish life and helping people find connection and belonging.
What You’ll Receive
A salary of $75,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience, with flexibility to explore either a full-year position or a 10-month schedule with compensation adjusted accordingly.
A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
Professional development support and opportunities for continued learning and growth.
The opportunity to join a warm, collaborative, and mission-driven team committed to meaningful relationship-building and student-centered work.
The chance to work closely with remarkable students and help shape Jewish life across Harvard’s graduate and professional schools.

Home to 500 Jewish undergraduates and 1,800 Jewish graduate students, Harvard Hillel’s mission is to train a generation of Jewish students to lead a divided Jewish community in an uncertain future - by helping mentoring them as they create an inspiring, life-shaping community of meaning with and for one another during their years as students.
Harvard Hillel is affiliated with Hillel International. Hillel International enriches the lives of Jewish students so they may enrich the Jewish people and the world, and envisions a world where every student is inspired to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.

Today, Hillel International continues to enrich the lives of Jewish students and is the largest Jewish campus organization in the world at nearly 1,000 colleges and universities across North America and around the world. As Hillel evolves as an organization, the mission remains steadfast: to create lasting connections with every Jewish student that foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning, and Israel and train them to become the next Jewish leaders.
