The Electrical Compliance Officer will conduct site-based inspections and investigations to ensure electrical installations meet regulatory standards. They will also assist in developing compliance programs and preparing comprehensive reports for management and stakeholders.
Requirements
Candidates must hold a current NSW Qualified Supervisor – Electrical license and possess expert knowledge of wiring and service installation rules. A Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) is required or must be obtained, along with the ability to travel throughout NSW.
Grade: Clerk Grade 9/10 Salary Range: $133,348 - $146,945 plus superannuation and leave loading Location: Parramatta and regional areas are also considered (Hunter and Mid North Coast areas) Term: Ongoing and Multiple Temporary opportunity up-to end of June 2027

About the team This role is an exciting opportunity to work within Building Commission NSW on all aspects of electrical compliance. You will be working within a high performing team of inspectors and administration personal in delivering the team strategies whilst working closely with other teams to deliver the required outcomes of the Practitioner Compliance directorate.
About the role: Multiple ongoing opportunities within Building Commission NSW’s Electrical Compliance team for a person who is motivated and wants to be involved with the raising of electrical work compliance in NSW.
As a Electrical Compliance Officer – Electrical Inspections, you will:
Provide specialist regulatory knowledge and skills within the electrical industry and be focused on the compliance and regulation of electrical installations and electrical work
Have knowledge of all types of electrical installations and electrical work
Produce comprehensive reports on investigations and inspections
Assist in the preparation and implementation of compliance programs
Assist in developing, scheduling of both desk and site-based audits and inspections
Assist in the preparation and providing of presentations to management, other departments and stakeholders
Assist in reviewing program documentation
Draft and review inspection reports
Collaborate with your colleagues across the team and the Department and assist in bringing awareness and education to the industry.
Support the Manager Compliance – Electrical Installations in various functions
Undertake inspections of electrical installations
To be successful in this role you will have:
Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or preparedness to undertake an identical or similar employer-sponsored program.
Expert knowledge of the Wiring rules and Service Installations Rules and the ability to apply this knowledge to complex inspections and investigations
A desire to see improvement of electrical compliance within the electrical industry
Strong ability to interpret legislation
Ability to work within a team of itinerant inspectors to achieve positive regulatory outcomes
Current NSW Driver's licence and willing to travel and work throughout NSW
Current NSW Qualified Supervisor – Electrical license, equivalent or possess the required qualifications to obtain relevant licence
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Work safely at heights training or preparedness to undertake the required training
The following skills are desirable but not essential
Experience in the installation of all types of renewable energy systems
Demonstrated ability to prepare briefs, reports and deliver education programs
Experience in conducting audit electrical inspections
Experience in undertaking investigations and required compliance actions
Experience in giving effective presentations
