Full job description
At IEM, we’re not just building innovative electrical distribution systems, we’re shaping the future. IEM is dedicated to delivering world-class solutions for complex power needs. After 75 years, we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Whether you’re an experienced professional or just starting out, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and make a lasting impact on industries that power the world’s most dynamic markets.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventive maintenance (PM) on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, doors/dock equipment, and life-safety systems, following established PM schedules and checklists.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues across all three buildings, escalating complex or specialized repairs to the Sr Facilities & Equipment Manager or licensed trade contractors as needed.
Respond promptly to facility work orders and trouble calls submitted through the CMMS/ticketing system, prioritizing safety-critical and production-impacting issues.
Support production continuity by minimizing downtime through timely repairs and proactive identification of equipment or infrastructure issues.
Perform general building repairs, including drywall, painting, flooring, door hardware, ceiling tile, and minor carpentry.
Maintain electrical distribution components at a basic level (lighting circuits, receptacles, breakers) and could support licensed electricians on switchboard, panel, and higher-voltage work.
Inspect and maintain dock doors, dock levelers, overhead doors, and material handling equipment interfaces.
Conduct routine facility walk-throughs/inspections across all three buildings to identify safety hazards, code violations, or maintenance needs.
Support setup, teardown, and reconfiguration of workspaces, equipment layouts, and events as directed.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM completion logs, and parts/inventory usage in the CMMS.
Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors on-site (escorting, scope verification, basic oversight) for specialized repairs.
Respond to after-hours emergencies (leaks, power outages, HVAC failures, security/access issues) as part of an on-call rotation.
Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and PPE requirements; report safety concerns immediately.
Support environmental, health & safety (EHS) compliance walk-throughs and corrective actions related to facility conditions.
Assist with seasonal tasks such as grounds upkeep coordination, and severe weather preparedness.
Provide shift hand-off communication to ensure continuity of open work orders and known issues across shift changes.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical/trade school certification in a facilities-related trade (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, mechanical) preferred.
2+ years of hands-on facilities maintenance experience, ideally in a manufacturing, industrial, or multi-building commercial environment.
Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems; ability to safely use hand and power tools.
Familiarity with CMMS/work order systems; comfortable documenting work electronically.
Understanding of LOTO, confined space awareness, and general industrial safety practices (OSHA 10/30 a plus).
Ability to read basic blueprints, and equipment manuals a plus.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Flexibility to work assigned shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) and rotate into on-call or weekend coverage as business needs require.
Valid driver's license required for campus/site travel between buildings, if applicable.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with production staff, leadership, and outside vendors.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders/stairs, kneel, crouch, and work in tight or elevated spaces across a large industrial campus.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally with assistance.
Exposure to a manufacturing environment including noise, dust, temperature variation, and moving equipment; PPE required in designated areas.
Must be able to move efficiently between three buildings on a single campus throughout a shift.
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, including exposure to seasonal weather during grounds/exterior tasks.
