Remote in United States
Responsibilities
Design, configure, and implement custom applications and enhancements within the ServiceNow platform for a federal customer. Provide architectural input and maintain platform stability by adhering to design and development standards.
Requirements
Requires a Secret security clearance and strong proficiency in ServiceNow tools and scripting. Experience with Agile methodologies and ITIL/ITSM practices is highly preferred.
Full job description
ServiceNow Developer
Improvix Technologies | Federal Program | Fully Remote
Compensation: $160,000 – $200,000 «insert range»
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Clearance: Active Secret clearance required; willing to sponsor new clearances for qualified candidates
Employment Type: Full-Time
Levels: Hiring at both Developer and Senior Developer levels — apply once and we'll match you to the right one.
FULLY REMOTE. REAL PLATFORM WORK.
Cleared ServiceNow roles are almost always tied to a building. This one isn't — it's fully remote, and it has been from the start.
Improvix Technologies is hiring ServiceNow Developers to design, configure, and build baseline and custom applications on an active federal program. You'll write real scripting — Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, ACLs, workflows — across multiple instances and domains, and you'll have a direct line to the architects and functional teams making platform decisions.
We're filling specific seats on a live program, not collecting résumés for a bench. If you're a good fit, you'll hear from us quickly.
WHY DEVELOPERS TAKE THIS ROLE
Genuinely remote, genuinely cleared. A cleared federal ServiceNow role you can do from anywhere in the U.S. is rare. That's not a perk we bolted on — it's how the program runs.
You'll have a voice in the design. Developers here provide architectural input and advise functional and admin teams. You're not handed finished specs and told to type.
Breadth across the platform. Service Catalog, Service Portal, Incident, Knowledge, reporting, custom apps, integrations — multiple instances and domains, internal and external customers.
A real career ladder. We're hiring developers at two levels on a program that also has architect roles. There's somewhere to go from here, and people who've gone there.
Mature delivery practices. Agile/Scrum, real design and development standards, and code review that actually happens.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Build & Configure
Design, configure, develop, and implement baseline and custom ServiceNow applications and enhancements.
Script Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, ACLs, and Workflow activities.
Solution and develop requested enhancements to existing ServiceNow applications.
Work across multiple instances and domains, supporting both internal and external customers.
Shape the Solution
Collaborate with business, systems, and technology partners in business analysis meetings to develop business and system requirements.
Advise functional and admin teams on design, development, and overall ServiceNow best practices.
Provide architectural input and help maintain platform stability by holding the line on design and development standards.
Ship & Sustain
Facilitate and support the rollout of new applications and enhancements.
Analyze system performance issues and determine performance enhancements.
Manage development work within an Agile/Scrum delivery model.
WHAT YOU BRING
These are the requirements — everything in "Bonus Points" below is genuinely optional. If you meet this list, apply.
For Developer
3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience.
Strong scripting ability in ServiceNow: Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, ACLs, and workflow development.
Working knowledge of the ServiceNow suite — Service Catalog, Service Portal, Reporting, Incident, and Knowledge Base.
Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a technical team.
Experience translating business requirements into functional and technical solutions.
Experience delivering in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Clear communication with both business and technical audiences, at any level, with good self-awareness.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting instincts.
Active Secret clearance; eligibility for Top Secret preferred.
For Senior Developer — the above, plus
5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, including experience guiding or mentoring other developers.
A track record of providing architectural input and setting or enforcing development standards on a team.
Demonstrated ownership of complex enhancements from requirements through rollout.
BONUS POINTS
ServiceNow certifications — CSA, CAD, or any Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS).
Development experience outside ServiceNow (JavaScript, REST/SOAP integrations, or other platforms).
Competency with IT Service Management, Asset and Configuration Management, and ITIL/ITSM practices.
Experience with the full system and software engineering lifecycle, including application implementation, support, and enterprise monitoring.
Experience working with large data sets and performing data analysis or modeling to inform management decisions.
Prior experience supporting federal customers or working in a cleared environment.
Hands-on use of the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
WORKING HERE
Improvix Technologies delivers secure, modern, integrated technology solutions that keep the nation's most critical systems running. We're small enough that a good idea reaches a decision-maker in a day, and close enough to the mission that you'll know exactly what your work supports.
On remote work: this role is fully remote within the U.S., and we mean it — no quiet expectation that you'll relocate to DC in six months, and no "remote for now." You'll need to be reachable during East Coast business hours to stay in sync with the program, and that's the extent of it.
Ready to apply? Send us your résumé. If there's an application, integration, or thorny platform problem you're proud of solving, tell us about it — that's what we'll want to dig into.
