Position Summary
The YWCA Therapist provides professional mental health counseling services to clients experiencing emotional, behavioral, relationship, trauma-related, and psychological challenges. The therapist works within a trauma-informed framework to support individuals, families, and groups, helping clients achieve greater emotional well-being and stability. The position collaborates with community partners and internal programs to promote healing, empowerment, and self-sufficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide individual, family, and group therapy services.
Conduct comprehensive behavioral health assessments and develop treatment plans.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency, state, and licensing requirements.
Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when necessary.
Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions and trauma-informed practices.
Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
Coordinate services with case managers, medical providers, schools, courts, and community agencies.
Participate in clinical supervision and case consultation as required.
Assist clients in identifying resources and support systems within the community.
Ensure compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and professional licensing regulations.
Support the YWCA mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Qualifications
Education
Master's degree in social work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
Experience
Minimum 1-2 years of clinical counseling experience preferred.
Experience working with trauma survivors, domestic violence victims, sexual assault survivors, children, and families preferred.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based treatment modalities.
Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of mental health diagnoses and treatment planning.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality.
