The Intake Coordinator for the RONI (Runaway, Outreach, Notification, and Intervention) Project is responsible for receiving, screening, and responding to missing and runaway youth reports in partnership with law enforcement and community partners. This position serves as the first point of contact for families, agencies, and law enforcement when a youth is reported missing or has returned. The Intake Coordinator conducts safety screenings, completes intake documentation, enters data into multiple systems, coordinates with law enforcement, and provides crisis response and service connection for youth and families. The position requires trauma-informed practice, rapid decision-making, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in high-stress, time-sensitive situations.
This is a weekend position - every other Saturday & Sunday. Third Shift overnight = 11:00pm - 7:00am
Duties & Responsibilities
Intake, Screening, and Crisis Response
Receive and respond to runaway and missing youth calls from regional dispatch, law enforcement, agencies, parents, guardians, and community members. Conduct initial safety screenings to determine exigent or unusual circumstances that require immediate law enforcement response. Make rapid, accurate decisions regarding safety risk and appropriate response pathway. Take emergency crisis calls related to missing or returned youth and provide immediate support and guidance. Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive communication with youth, families, and partners. Speak directly with returned youth, when dispatched, outside the presence of guardians to assess safety and needs.
Law Enforcement and Community Coordination
Work closely with law enforcement, dispatch, and multidisciplinary partners to ensure timely response to missing and returned youth. Communicate directly with regional dispatch and law enforcement when exigent circumstances are identified. Assist with follow-up documentation and coordination when patrol or detectives complete original reports. Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and case reviews as assigned. Communicate with out-of-home placement providers, juvenile justice, child welfare, and community agencies regarding runaway reports.
Documentation and Data Entry
Complete intake, prescreening, and safety assessment forms for every runaway or missing youth report. Enter and update information in multiple systems, including law enforcement record systems, Daybreak systems, and grant-required databases. Upload and manage required documentation, photos, and releases of information. Complete supplemental and closing reports when youth are located or cases are resolved. Ensure accurate, timely, and complete documentation in compliance with grant, agency, and law enforcement standards.
Outreach and Location Support
Conduct social media searches and online monitoring to assist in locating missing youth, when appropriate. Manage social media response pages related to runaway and missing youth alerts as assigned. Gather and document information related to youth’s friends, associates, hangout locations, and online presence. Support outreach staff by providing detailed intake information for follow-up services.
Client Support and Service Connection
Work directly with youth and families to identify immediate needs and connect them to appropriate services. Provide basic crisis support, safety planning, and referrals. Assist families with understanding next steps when youth have multiple runaway incidents. Support reunification and stabilization efforts when youth return.
Compliance and Grant Responsibilities
Follow RONI Project policies, procedures, and workflow requirements. Adhere to all grant requirements, reporting timelines, and documentation standards. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and privacy laws. Participate in required trainings related to trauma, human trafficking, crisis response, and missing youth.
Qualifications
Minimum of High School diploma or GED required, associates degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or related field preferred
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working directly with youth and young adults is required, those experiencing homelessness or housing instability preferred.
