Responsibilities include producing intelligence reports, conducting scenario planning, and supporting client decision-making regarding investments and security posture.
Requirements
Candidates must have a background in intelligence or security analysis and be fluent in English, Ukrainian, and Russian. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a master's degree and deep knowledge of Russian military capabilities and Ukrainian government institutions strongly preferred.
Full job description
We are seeking an Intelligence Analyst to join our Geopolitical and Country Risk (GCR) practice. The role is based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and the successful candidate will work closely with Control Risks’ local security experts.
This role is centred on intelligence analysis of security and political developments in Ukraine. The successful candidate will play a critical role in identifying, analysing, and reporting on threats and security incidents across our areas of operations in Ukraine, as well as providing more strategic analysis on the trajectory of the war and domestic political issues in Ukraine. You will be responsible for collecting and interpreting intelligence from a variety of sources, delivering actionable insights to support the security posture of both our clients’ and Control Risks’ operations in Ukraine, supporting incident response efforts and more long-term decision-making, for example on investments in Ukraine. An understanding of the inner workings of the current administration, including the interplay with the military, is desirable.
The analyst will have a regional focus on Ukraine, with particular emphasis on war-related threats, but will also work closely with fellow GCR Europe team members on regional security and political developments and trends.
Role tasks and responsibilities
Assess tactical intelligence sources for immediate relevance and impact to our clients and our own operations.
Monitor and analyse threat intelligence feeds and open-source intelligence (OSINT) to proactively identify emerging threats and assess their relevance to the organisation’s operational environment.
Produce detailed intelligence reports, threat assessments, and stakeholder briefings.
Correlate threats to client assets and prioritise based on criticality and potential impact.
Maintain situational awareness of the domestic and regional threat landscape, including adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
Support scenario planning on geopolitical dynamics, security issues and domestic Ukrainian politics.
Monitoring the operational environment, with a focus on Ukraine’s efforts to decentralise the energy sector, and the labour market.
Undertake research for bespoke projects and manage independently medium-sized project; for complex, non-templated projects play a central role in delivering such projects under the direction of more senior consultants and analysts, and develop solutions to complex and complicated client questions
Scoping and writing proposals for work on the region, or specialist political risk consulting requests more generally
Demonstratable experience in a relevant intelligence role
Bachelor’s degree in history, Political Science, International Relations, Intelligence Analysis, Criminal Justice, Regional Studies, or a related discipline; master’s degree strongly preferred.
English is the working language. Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian is essential.
Proven background in open-source intelligence (OSINT), geopolitical/security analysis, or law enforcement/military intelligence.
Solid understanding of Russian military capabilities, tactics and associated threats, ranging from hybrid warfare to long-range air strikes; familiarity with Russian doctrine and strategic thinking strongly preferred
Good understanding of Ukrainian politics and Ukraine’s political economy, as well as strong familiarity with Ukrainian government institutions at national and regional level, including how authorities take decisions
Proficiency in producing clear, concise, and tailored intelligence products such as alerts, forecasts, and briefings.
Strong analytical and investigative skills, with the ability to synthesise complex data into actionable intelligence.
Access to a network of local trusted sources and being able to source and verify information that might not be readily available in public domain; experience in handling and assessing information from human sources.
Ability to correlate threats to specific corporate assets and recommend prioritisation measures.
Experience handling highly confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Demonstrated adaptability to rapidly changing threat environments and competing tasking priorities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
High level of cultural awareness and sensitivity, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
Control Risks offers a competitively positioned compensation and benefits package that is transparent and summarised in the full job offer.
We operate a discretionary global bonus scheme that incentivises, and rewards individuals based on company and individual performance.
Control Risks supports hybrid working arrangements, wherever possible, that emphasise the value of in-person time together - in the office and with our clients - while continuing to support flexible and remote working.
As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to apply and join us and are fully committed to equal treatment, free from discrimination, of all candidates throughout our recruitment process.
If you require any reasonable adjustments to be made in order to participate fully in the interview process, please let us know and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.
