Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As Lead for Mechanical Component Validation, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our product development initiatives for Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited. Your key responsibilities will include:
Leading the design, guidance, and implementation of in-house capabilities for Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA) and comprehensive mechanical life estimation, ensuring rigorous assessment of component durability and performance.
Overseeing the application of strain gauging and instrumentation techniques during RLDA and rig testing to collect accurate and actionable data for engineering analysis.
Designing and implementing specialized test fixtures and mechanisms tailored to simulate real-world operating conditions, optimizing the reliability of validation processes.
Establishing and maintaining advanced servo hydraulic testing facilities, facilitating sophisticated mechanical stress testing aligned with product development requirements.
Planning and conducting detailed vibration and structural testing protocols, analysing outcomes to inform design improvements and quality assurance benchmarks.
Managing material laboratory activities, coordinating testing schedules, data interpretation, and ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.
Customising test rigs and adapting validation procedures as project demands evolve to support innovative product development cycles.
Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams—including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance—to integrate validation insights into broader engineering workflows and product lifecycle management.
Driving continuous improvement initiatives to refine validation methodologies, incorporating emerging technologies and best practices in mechanical testing and data analytics.
The role requires a high degree of technical expertise and leadership skills to guide complex validation projects from concept through execution, ensuring that mechanical components meet stringent performance and safety standards. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior engineers and fostering an environment of innovation and precision within the validation team.
Experience
We are looking for candidates with significant experience in mechanical component validation and a strong background in mechanical engineering testing methodologies, particularly within the automotive or mobility sectors. Ideal candidates will possess:
Extensive hands-on experience in Road Load Data Acquisition (RLDA) and the interpretation of complex mechanical load data.
Proven proficiency with strain gauging and instrumentation for performance testing in lab and field environments.
Demonstrated expertise in the design and execution of test fixtures, rig testing, and servo hydraulic system setup.
Strong background in vibration analysis, structural testing, and materials testing with an emphasis on durability assessment.
Experience managing material laboratories and coordinating multi-disciplinary testing activities.
A track record of leading mechanical validation teams and successfully delivering projects on schedule.
Familiarity with CAD tools, test automation systems, and data acquisition software highly advantageous.
Ability to analyse complex datasets and translate findings into actionable engineering recommendations.
Excellent communication skills for collaboration across internal teams and external stakeholders.
We value candidates who bring a problem-solving mindset along with a commitment to high-quality validation standards and safety compliance.
