Description
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the operational performance of the pharmacy department’s services. The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for ongoing monitoring of operational and performance metrics, program planning and implementation, attainment and implementation of process quality measures, financial operations management, patient safety, and assuring regulatory compliance to all applicable agencies. The Director of Pharmacy is also responsible for the 340b program oversight.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operational performance.
Develops and implements pharmacy operational planning and decision-making in collaboration with the Senior Leadership by identifying opportunities to improve medication use, provide direction on the use of pharmaceuticals, and appropriate use of resources.
Promotes rational and cost-effective diagnostic and therapeutic treatment strategies through a process that engages our providers and senior management in contract strategy, development, execution and performance monitoring.
Provides supervision of pharmacy staff and completes their annual performance reviews.
Responsible for the fiscal management of TCCH Pharmacies and the Purchasing Department and assures proper utilization of organization’s financial resources.
Develops Pharmacy and Purchasing budgets in conjunction with the Finance department within designated deadlines according to all budgetary policies and procedures.
Directs the effective utilization of resources within the established budget(s) and monitors the financial performance of the pharmacies.
Adheres to procedures regarding acquisition of, and payment for, goods and services, as evidenced by appropriate and timely processing requisitions and invoices.
Recommends way to reduce expenditures and/or enhance revenues without compromising quality of service.
Management and oversight of 340B program compliance.
Direct the TCCH 340b drug program functions, including but not limited to: audit, compliance, dispensing and implementation at TCCH sites.
Act as a member of the 340b Committee and the Risk Management Committee and report on 340b audit findings and related activities to both committees
Direct pharmacy participation and compliance with TCCH Quality Measures activities.
Ensure TCCH pharmacies compliance with Quality measure initiatives required by HRSA, MCOs, and other regulatory agencies in order to improve quality of care, reduce inappropriate utilization of pharmacy services, and improve coordination of care.
Make presentations on pharmacy and purchasing activities to Senior Leadership and/or the TCCH Board of Directors as required.
Monitors and directs compliance with federal and state regulations applicable to Pharmacy
Ensures pharmaceuticals are ordered, stored, secured and dispensed according to the Washington State Legal Code and Clinic Policy.
Directs the development or revision of pharmacy policies and procedures as needed.
Ensures maintenance of state and federal record keeping for controlled substances.
Recommends internal operating procedures in compliance to regulations.
Chair pharmacy related meetings.
Leads and facilitates meetings.
Prepares agendas for meetings to make best use of participant’s time and address key issues or keep participants informed about pharmacy related organizational developments that affect them.
Establish and maintain a working relationship with other Senior Leadership members, providers, and TCCH personnel.
Functions as a Pharmacist as needed.
Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job-related hazards.
All required safety education programs have been attended.
Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questions.
Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructed.
Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards.
Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functions.
If Manager/Leader, provides for safety of department employees.
Follows the Organization’s Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens.
Demonstrates knowledge of techniques, procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment.
Assures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measures.
Attends annual education programs.
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

WAGE
$165,059 - $233,238 annually
Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy, Masters of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited School or College of Pharmacy. Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Residency preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Five (5) or more years of experience as a pharmacist with two (2) or more years of experience in a management role.
Required Licenses/Certifications: Registered Pharmacist with an active, unrestricted license in the State of Washington.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Demonstrated excellent pharmacy management, organizational, and leadership skills required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use medical and pharmacy related software. Experience with medical and pharmacy electronic health record systems (EHRs) and inventory control systems. Demonstrated self-management and problem-solving skills. Ability to set priorities and deal with rapidly changing priorities. Knowledgeable of the 340B drug pricing program. Ability to build strong strategic working relationships with Senior Management, providers, vendors, and peers.
