Position Title: SAP Architecture Lead

Role Summary

The SAP Architecture Lead owns the end-to-end architectural vision and integrity of the SAP S/4HANA landscape, ensuring that solution, application, and integration architecture align with enterprise strategy and emerging AI-driven capabilities. Acting as a bridge between business intent and technical execution, this role sets architectural standards, governs the technology roadmap, and partners with global functional, technical, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, future-ready SAP environments. A core expectation is the active use of SAP LeanIX to model, govern, and communicate the enterprise architecture landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own the target-state SAP S/4HANA architecture across application, data, integration, and technical layers, ensuring alignment with the broader enterprise architecture.
• Maintain the SAP architecture landscape, application portfolio, and technology roadmaps within SAP LeanIX, driving transparency, rationalization, and data-driven decision-making.
• Embed AI and intelligent enterprise capabilities into the architecture roadmap — including SAP Business AI, Joule, generative-AI use cases on SAP BTP, and AI-assisted automation across business processes.
• Establish and enforce architecture governance, design principles, and standards across projects and run-state operations.
• Provide architectural oversight for major programs (greenfield, brownfield, and selective transformations), integrations, and BTP-based extensions.
• Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and AI tooling, advising leadership on adoption, fit, and value realization.
• Partner with security, infrastructure, and data teams to ensure compliance, performance, scalability, and resilience.
• Mentor architects and technical leads, raising the overall architectural maturity of the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Approximately 15 years of experience in SAP Architecture, with significant depth in S/4HANA solution and technical architecture.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with SAP LeanIX for enterprise architecture management, portfolio rationalization, and roadmap governance.
• Strong understanding of SAP BTP, integration architecture, and the SAP AI/intelligent enterprise portfolio.
• Proven track record leading architecture for large, complex, multi-region SAP landscapes.

Soft Skills & Leadership

• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with a proven ability to engage global functional, technical, and business stakeholders and translate complex architecture into business-relevant terms.
• Strong influencing, facilitation, and consensus-building abilities across geographies and cultures.
• Confident decision-making, with the maturity to balance strategic vision against delivery constraints.
• Mentorship and team-leadership orientation suited to a mid-management role.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• SAP and/or TOGAF architecture certifications.
• Experience in regulated or manufacturing/consumer-goods environments.
• Exposure to cloud (RISE with SAP / hyperscaler) and large-scale transformation programs.
