Job Summary
Reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager of Infinity Métis Corp. ‘IMC’ the Human Resources Advisor provides day-to-day human resources support and guidance across Infinity Métis Corp. (“IMC”) and its subsidiaries. This position plays a key operational role in implementing HR programs, advising managers and employees, and ensuring consistent and effective delivery of HR services across the organization.
The incumbent is a key partner in driving the organization’s people strategy by providing expert guidance and support across all areas of human resources. The Advisor provides hands-on support for employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, training and development, ensuring compliance with HR policies and legal standards, and HR systems. The incumbent will provide coverage and support for recruitment/onboarding activities as needed during absences or peak workloads.
The incumbent will conduct all activities in a manner that supports the mission, vision and values of IMC, as well as adherence to all established Policies and Procedures.
This 12-month temporary full-time salaried position is based on forty (40) hours weekly. Additional hours may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the first point of contact for leaders and employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace matters.
Coach and consult with leaders and employees on HR policies, programs, performance management, and compliance, ensuring alignment with employment standards and best practices.
Address employee relations matters through proactive conflict resolution, investigations, documentation, and disciplinary action, while mitigating organizational risk in collaboration with the Human Resources Manager.
Support employee performance, career development, and succession planning efforts to strengthen organizational capability and retention.
Promote and model an inclusive, respectful, and culturally grounded workplace culture that reflects Métis values.
Administer employee benefits programs, and manage employee communications.
Support annual salary reviews, pay adjustments, and market benchmarking activities.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee data within the HRIS and manage related transactional processes.
Collaborate with payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee changes and submissions.
Design, deliver, and evaluate training and development programs in response to business needs.
Coordinate employee learning and professional development initiatives, including mentorship programs such as the Pathways to Learning Mentorship Program.
Support implementation of leadership and learning initiatives that enhance organizational capability.
Assist with planning and executing employee engagement, recognition, and wellness initiatives.
Support the development, maintenance, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with employment legislation, occupational health and safety standards, and internal policies.
Conduct research, analyze HR data, and prepare reports and metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, training participation) to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Contribute to organizational design, change management, and workforce planning initiatives.
Participate in HR projects that drive process improvement, operational efficiency, and culture development.
Play a key partnership role in the development and integration of strategic talent and culture initiatives.
Participate in HR events, community engagement activities, and organizational initiatives as required.
Support HR systems enhancements, workflows, and documentation to improve service delivery; and,
Other duties as required.
Qualifications
University degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce, Business Administration with a focus in Human Resources or related field is required.
Three (3) years of experience in a progressive Human Resources role is required.
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience may be considered.
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence, along with a clean driver’s abstract is required.
Criminal Record Check is required.
Comprehensive knowledge of employment law, compensation, organizational planning, employee/labour relations, and training and development.
Proven ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative solutions.
Excellent analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
Results-oriented with sound judgment, balancing business priorities and people-focused approaches.
High energy and ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.
Skilled in fostering a cooperative work environment and resolving conflicts efficiently.
Decisive and able to perform well under pressure, especially during unexpected challenges or delays.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (knowledge of BambooHR is an asset).
Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, respond appropriately, and engage effectively with a diverse workforce.
Qualified status with the Métis Nation of Alberta or fluency in Dene Cree are preferred candidate traits.
