Your job is more than a job
Breathe Life Into Care
At the heart of every breath is someone like you.
You’re more than a clinician you’re the calm in the storm when someone says, “I can’t breathe.” You bring skill, precision, and heart to every moment, whether it’s managing a ventilator, supporting a code, or simply helping a patient feel safe again.
If you believe respiratory care is about treating the whole person, not just the condition, you’ll fit right in here.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Because you don’t just administer treatments, you transform fear into relief. Because every breath you help restore is a win. Because your compassion matters just as much as your clinical expertise.
From a child battling with asthma to a patient navigating COPD, you’re there; steady, skilled, and deeply human.
What You’ll Do (aka Your Everyday Impact)
You’ll be hands-on with both critical and general care, including:
Managing ventilators and adjusting settings based on patient needs
Performing arterial punctures and assisting with airway management
Supporting high-acuity situations like Code III responses
Assisting with bronchoscopies and intubations
Delivering therapies (oxygen, aerosol, CPT, IPPB, incentive spirometry, and more)
Monitoring equipment and ensuring safe, effective operation
Educating patients and families so they feel informed and empowered
Maintaining strict infection control and safety standards
Collaborating with a team that values your insight and expertise
What Makes You Amazing (What You Bring)
Required Credentials:
Licensed Respiratory Therapist (Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners)
Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC)
Current BLS / CPR (AHA)
ACLS Certification
PALS Certification
Beyond the Basics:
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
Ability to prioritize in fast-paced environments
A compassionate, patient-first mindset
A team player who communicates clearly and confidently
The Difference You Make
Respiratory distress is overwhelming, but you bring relief. You bring clarity. You bring breath back.
And those moments when a patient relaxes, smiles, and finally exhales? That’s why you do what you do. And it’s why we want you on our team.
Ready to Make an Impact?
Bring your skills. Bring your heart. Bring your story. We can’t wait to meet you.

We believe a hospital should actually be hospitable.
We’re a New Orleans-based, non-profit health system on a mission: to provide the best possible care for every person and parish in Louisiana and beyond, and to put a little more heart and soul into healthcare along the way. And that means we do things a little differently around here.
Treating people like family is the LCMC Health way, and it always has been. Founded by Louisiana’s first freestanding children’s hospital, we’ve grown into a healthcare system that’s built to serve the unique needs of our communities and families across New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and beyond.
We believe in treating the whole patient, not just the condition. When you visit an LCMC Health facility, you will get the care that is best for you and your family because we believe that shared beliefs and positive outlooks are what drive our exceptional care.
We offer nine hospital locations: Children’s Hospital New Orleans, East Jefferson General Hospital, New Orleans East Hospital, Touro, University Medical Center New Orleans, West Jefferson Medical Center, Lakeview Hospital, and Lakeside Hospital. We also deliver world-class care close to home through a network of urgent care centers across the greater New Orleans area in addition to our physician practices. With over 2,200 board-certified physicians specializing in everything from head to toe, our community can count on us to provide the right care, right where they need it.
We’ve got a rich history, but our sights are set on what comes next. We’re committed to leading the way to a healthier future for the Gulf Coast. That’s why we partner with local universities to bring the latest in care to our patients, and to train the next generation of healthcare professionals that will make a difference right here in our communities.
