The Respiratory Therapist oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Responsibilities include operating mechanical ventilators, administering inhaled medications, and conducting specialized diagnostic tests like EKGs and ABGs.
Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care and a High School Diploma or GED. Required certifications include Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and a state Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
The Registered Respiratory Therapist oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders at Franciscan. This position uses a variety of testing techniques to assist doctors in diagnosing disorders, and determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians' orders.
