The Ultrasonographer independently performs ultrasound examinations and interprets findings to assist radiologists in making diagnoses. Additional duties include assisting with invasive procedures, educating students, and maintaining equipment quality control.
Candidates must have an Associate's degree and ARDMS certification, specifically in abdominal or OB/GYN and physics/instrumentation. BLS certification and 1-2 years of ultrasound training or experience are required.

Associate's Degree (Required)ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Certification - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RDMS - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography1-2 yrs ultrasound training from an accredited training program. Must have passed the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). Must have passed the abdominal or OB/GYN and physics/instrumentation. 1-2 yrs previous ultrasound experience (clinical training acceptable). BLS Certification.
