Summit County Public Health is seeking an Environmental Health Coordinator to work full-time (35 hours per week) , Monday through Friday, in our Water Quality Program. This vital role manages daily operations for the Water Quality program, ensuring state compliance through the oversight of private water systems, sewage treatment systems, haulers, contractors, and local stormwater monitoring. The Environmental Health Coordinator drives program success by developing SOPs and training materials, preparing board presentations, and assisting leadership with budgeting, policy, and public outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day operations and activities for all assigned environmental health programs.
Create training documents, draft standard operating procedures, and assist in training staff.
Support leadership with program budgeting, goal setting, and policy development, and perform public speaking duties as needed.
Sewage Treatment Systems Maintenance and Private Water Systems Permitting
Coordinate the private point-of-sale inspection program.
Manage the review of operation permit maintenance documents and track the expiration status of private water system permits.
Oversee stormwater monitoring efforts and help write annual stormwater reports for contracted communities.
Coordinate the registration and routine inspection of water haulers.
Ensure compliance with state standards (OEPA and ODH) and assist supervisors in preparing documentation for ODH surveys.
Sewage Treatment Systems Permitting
Manage the registration process for septic contractors and coordinate the registration and inspection of septage haulers.
Monitor the expiration status of sewage treatment system permits.
Assist supervisors with ODH survey documentation and prepare presentation slides for Board of Health variance requests.
Maintain program compliance with all relevant state agency regulations, including those from OEPA and ODH.
Complete supervisor-assigned projects focusing on overall program design, development, and implementation.
Compensation & Total Rewards
This is a full-time position with a standard 35-hour work week.
Compensation: $59,841.60 annually (equivalent to $32.88 per hour working 35 hours per week).

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in the sciences.
Must possess a minimum of 3 years related work experience.
Maintenance of Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential from the Ohio Department of Health and 24 continuing education credits biennially
Valid Ohio driver's license and insured vehicle.
