A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a Virginia Registered Nurse license are required. Candidates should have at least five years of nursing supervisory experience, preferably within an OBGYN or large medical group setting.
The Director of Nursing position is part of the management team of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The registered nurse facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of:
The role will be responsible for oversight, mentoring, and training of the RN’s, LPN’s and Medical Assistants in the clinical practices for the Department of OBGYN across multiple practice locations. Per the mission of the EVMS Medical Group, this position will lead all clinical quality initiatives in the practice and will work collaboratively with the Department Chair and Department Administrators to support providers in reaching these goals. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for clinical staff compliance with procedures and processes put in place to ensure goal achievement. This position will work collaboratively and be a resource for the Divisional Practice/Office Managers in the department.
Travel will be required to all office locations and throughout all divisions to meet the department’s demands.
Supports the development of others and creates a practice climate of responsiveness and learning. This leadership supports the retention and recruitment of clinically competent nurses. The ability to lead and influence the reasoning of colleagues in the patient’s best interest depends on skillful comportment, authoritative clinical knowledge and wisdom, the conviction to act as an ethical agent despite adverse consequences, and the ability to listen and enhance others’ strengths.
