Job Summary
We're growing our Walk-In Clinic team across Southwest Michigan! Opportunities are available at Care Center Royalton (St. Joseph), Southwestern Medical Clinic (Niles), and our new clinics opening in Bridgman and Dowagiac.
As a Medical Assistant, you'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients seeking treatment for urgent and non-emergency health concerns. Working under the direction of a licensed healthcare professional, you will support providers by coordinating patient flow, performing clinical and administrative duties within scope of practice, and helping create a positive patient experience from arrival through discharge.
In this fast-paced environment, Medical Assistants serve as key members of the care team, assisting with patient intake, vital signs, examinations, treatments, procedures, medication administration within scope of practice, specimen collection, and electronic health record documentation. You will collaborate closely with providers and care teams to ensure efficient clinic operations while delivering exceptional service, quality, and patient-centered care.

Essential Functions
Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow by preparing patients for visits and providing services and education as directed by providers and within scope of practice.
Obtains and documents patient information, including vital signs, medical history updates, and other clinical data as appropriate.
Assists providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments by preparing patients, rooms, supplies, and equipment.
Prepares, administers, and documents medications within scope of practice and as directed by the provider.
Collects, monitors, and reports patient information and needs to licensed healthcare team members. Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
Performs administrative duties to support clinic operations, including appointment-related tasks, patient communication, and maintenance of medical records.
Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work environment and reports equipment concerns or malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
Greets and communicates with patients and families in a manner that promotes dignity, respect, and exceptional customer service.
Collaborates with providers, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care and efficient clinic operations.
Demonstrates commitment to patient safety, quality of care, confidentiality, and compliance with organizational policies and standards.
Participates in ongoing education and training to maintain competency, professional growth, and regulatory requirements.
Supports the organization's mission, values, and commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
Qualifications
Required
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Successful completion of an accredited, hands-on, competency-based Medical Assistant training program. Online-only programs do not qualify.
One of the following certifications within 120 days of hire:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire:
American Heart Association (AHA), or
American Red Cross (ARC)
Preferred
One (1) year of experience working in a physician practice, urgent care, walk-in clinic, or healthcare setting.
Experience working in a fast-paced ambulatory or urgent care environment.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
