The adjunct faculty member is responsible for delivering assigned courses in accordance with college policy and course objectives. They must also develop instructional materials, maintain accurate student records, and foster an engaging learning environment.
Applicants must possess at least a baccalaureate degree with two years of relevant work experience or a current Workplace Specialist License. Candidates are also required to provide unofficial college transcripts and relevant certifications to demonstrate minimum qualifications.
GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.
· Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
· Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
· Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials. Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
· Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
· Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
· Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Conducts all activities with an appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
A qualified faculty member teaching HLHS 101 must have one of the following:
· Meets the Healthcare Specialist Program standard (see below); or
· Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience and relevant Medical Terminology coursework; or
· Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Science OR Dental Careers with relevant Medical Terminology coursework.
A qualified faculty member teaching HLHS 100, 103, 105 and 118 must have one of the following:
· Meets the Healthcare Specialist Program standard (see below); or
· Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; or
· Holds a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education in any Health Sciences.
A qualified faculty member in Healthcare Specialist who meets all three of the following criteria are eligible to teach all HLHS courses:
· Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution; and
· Has a minimum of 2 years directly related work experience; and
· Holds certification or licensure in a health care discipline providing care or service directly to patients.
