EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
In the interest of the welfare of residents at Miller Nursing home and patients at Miller County Hospital. The Activities Director’s Assistant will have a minimum educational background of holding a high school diploma or GED equivalency, with preference to applicants with higher education in related subjects. Preference is given for certification in a related field.
CPR Certification
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and vision of the organization.
Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self-education, attends ongoing educational programs).
Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.
Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
GENERAL SKILLS:
Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Additional languages preferred.
Strong written and verbal skills.

General environment: Works in a well-lighted, air-conditioned area, with moderate noise levels.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
Be responsible for planning developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing the activity programs of the facility. Includes Miller County Hospital.
Interview residents/patients and families to determine each person’s spiritual, social, recreational and emotional needs and interests.
Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, charge slips, ordering of necessary materials, supplies, regulated activity records or others as directed. Document in EHR of hospital weekly.
Organize, schedule and supervise activities according to the interest express by residents/patients.
Supervise volunteers, families, community agencies, to develop and maximize the activity program for residents/patients
Encourage resident/patient assistance with and participation in scheduled activities.
Establish and maintain community involvement and create a home-like atmosphere for residents/patients.
Document observations and plans of action in appropriate records,
Participate in care plan meetings at Swingbed program of Hospital.
Prepare or delegate the preparation of food/beverages for residents’/patients’ events as appropriate.
Maintain a list of residents/patients whose major activity is one-to-one visiting.
Plan and prepare monthly calendar and exhibit bulletin boards.
Plan bed side/in room activities.
Submit community social media or newspaper communications as approved.
Daily rounds of patients at hospital, meeting needs as they occur.
Make routine rounds of facility to ensure resident activity needs are being met.
Swing bed participation is required.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

*Traditional Nursing Home Care and Long-Term Ventilator and/or Dialysis Care: Miller Nursing Home is a Medicare and Medicaid approved 157 bed licensed long-term care facility with a dedicated 100-bed ventilator-dialysis unit. The facility shares a campus with our hospital - and that means residents have immediate access to diagnostic and acute care services. Our facility received a 5-Star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, indicating "much above average" on their scale and takes into account health inspections, staffing, and quality measures. Our new wing for traditional nursing home patients sets the standard for long term care; and our area for long-term ventilator patients is currently undergoing renovation.
* Wound Care: Miller County Wound Care Clinic works with patients and their physician to deliver comprehensive care geared towards management and healing. From basic wound care and debridement to wound vac, our expert providers follow a rigorous protocol and use the latest technology to deliver customized care to each patient.
*Swing Bed Services: Designed for patients who need short-term care following an acute hospital stay, our Swing Bed program offers a place to continue recovery when patients have to be discharged from any hospital.
