JOB SUMMARY

The Dual Generation Family Centered Case Coach plays a critical role in advancing United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County’s Dual Generation Initiative by serving as a trusted partner to families navigating complex systems. This position is responsible for building strong, supportive strength-based relationships with families in prioritized communities, connecting them to relevant services, and fostering progress toward their personal and family educational and economic goals. Grounded in a family-centered and strengths-based approach, the Family Centered Case Coach provides individualized guidance and helps ensure families have access to coordinated, holistic resources that promote long-term well-being and stability. This role also requires collaboration with internal teams and community partners to align efforts and support family success.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

• Build and maintain trusting, strengths-based relationships with families participating in the Dual Generation Initiative, recognizing families as experts in their own lives and empowering them to achieve self-defined goals.
• Conduct holistic family assessments to identify strengths, barriers, priorities, and opportunities for growth, using approved assessment tools and family-centered coaching practices.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized family success plans that address the interconnected needs of parents and children, promote economic mobility, and support long-term family stability and well-being.
• Provide ongoing coaching, goal setting, accountability, crisis intervention, and problem-solving support through regular family meetings, home visits, virtual engagements, and other approved methods of service delivery.
• Assist families in navigating and accessing community resources, public benefits, education, workforce development, childcare, healthcare, housing, and other support systems; advocate on behalf of families when barriers to access arise.
• Implement outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategies to engage eligible families and sustain active participation in programs and services.
• Coordinate parent, family, and community engagement activities that increase awareness of available resources, strengthen social connections, and promote family participation.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, employers, service providers, faith-based organizations, neighborhood groups, and other community stakeholders to strengthen resource networks and support family outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal staff, cross-sector partners, and community organizations to coordinate services, align support strategies, and ensure a comprehensive, whole-family approach to service delivery.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case records, including assessments, service plans, case notes, referrals, enrollment documentation, and program outcomes within designated data management systems.
• Monitor family progress, track program outcomes, and contribute to data collection, reporting, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
• Participate in team meetings, partner collaborations, professional development opportunities, and community events to remain informed of best practices, available resources, and emerging community needs.
• Demonstrate cultural responsiveness, professionalism, empathy, and trauma-informed practices when working with diverse families experiencing economic, educational, housing, health, or other life challenges.
• Ensure compliance with program policies, funding requirements, confidentiality standards, and organizational procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization and the success of the Dual Generation Initiative.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED and 4 years of community related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or 2 years of community related work experience plus an associate degree.
• Background working with volunteers, parents and/or residents.
• Knowledge of San Antonio’s westside community.
• Work experience with parents and resident engagement preferred.
• Prior experience as a participant in a parent support program preferred.
• Experience working with lower-income and diverse populations.
• Proven work experience performing case management and/or program intake function

• Bi-lingual ability in English and Spanish preferred.
• Ability to multitask, strong attention to detail and organization; ability to prioritize and complete tasks prior to deadlines.
• Ability to work cooperatively and as a member of a team with parents, staff and the community at large. Always conduct yourself and your appearance in a professional manner
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrate sensitivity and empathy regarding human service issues and project a non-judgmental attitude. towards individuals requiring assistance.
• Prior understanding of the issues and struggles of families in poverty and prior experience working in a direct service role with under resourced families.
• Ability to work with manage a wide variety of populations and personalities with respect, compassion, and dignity.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
• Basic understanding of social media platforms.
• Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Access) proficiency preferred.•

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Normal nonprofit office environment with little exposure to dust, noise and extreme temperatures.
• Extended work on personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
• Reliable transportation is required with the ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events locally, routinely and around the state and nationally, occasionally.
• Monday-Friday, 8:15 am to 4:45 pm work week with occasional evening and weekend hours.
• Although UWSA offers a Hybrid-Remote work modality there will be initiatives at varying times of the year that will require additional days on-site up to 5 days per week through the completion of the initiative.
