The Parent Educator Lead will be a versatile, self-motivated, result-oriented professional who works under the supervision and oversight of the Mosaic Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor to help ensure a strong home visiting team. The primary responsibility of the Lead is to directly deliver Parents as Teachers (PAT) home visiting services as a Parent Educator and provide oversight and supervision of assigned Parent Educator(s) who do not possess professional licensure that exceeds the licensure of the Lead. The position promotes adherence to Pathways’ mission, vision and values as well as the organization’s home visiting service policies and procedures.
Essential Duties
Cultivate PAT referrals in local service area, which may entail leveraging community partnerships, marketing and some public speaking. Directly deliver PAT home visiting services to families, adhering to the model with fidelity. Maintain personal caseload in compliance with PAT standards and procedures including meeting compliance targets. Organizes and conducts monthly Group Connections and other community events, as necessary. Provides supervision for up to three PAT service providers and/or other support staff once weekly or twice per month, according to need. Conducts documented supervision with assigned staff and provides ongoing feedback to each provider concerning quality of services and work performance. Leads or participates in team meetings to ensure service goals are met and program and organizational developments are communicated, understood and implemented. Conducts weekly review of caseload of assigned staff and ensures the providers schedule family visits in the electronic records system. Reviews “no show” and “cancelation” concerns seeks to mitigate barriers to successful programming with each provider. Monitors goals and service delivery compliance to ensure delivery of services in the type and quantity consistent with the PAT guidelines and minimizes over and/or under-utilization of services. Provides initial review and approval of Goals. Reviews and approves or rejects documentation for assigned staff on a daily basis and provides feedback to providers. Provides guidance/supervision to group and individual providers achieving below average program outcomes and consults with their supervisor regarding disciplinary action that may be warranted due to underperformance. Discusses staff’s approval of upcoming discharges with their supervisor prior to conversations with client/families. Participates in monthly peer review and other quality improvement activities while working closely with Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor to ensure documentation meets fidelity standards. Approves mileage and expenses for assigned staff. Consults with their supervisor about any incident that requires internal or external reporting. Ensures documentation meets internal divisional and external payer requirements. Involved with onboarding curriculum/training with new staff. Consults with training manager and supervisor to ensure standardized training and practices, as needed. Provides shadowing and mentoring opportunities for staff. Monitors HIPAA compliance and reports breaches in accordance with corporate policy. Adheres to the requirements and regulations as set forth by the Department of Health and Human Services and Texas State Board of Examiners based on clinical licensure, if applicable. Establish relationships and communicates with clients, caseworkers/probation officers, family members, and staff.
Supervisor: Clinical Director/Clinical Supervisor
Supervises: Parent Educators, when requested.
Work Environment: Primarily community-based position with a portion of office-based activities.
Work Hours: Full-time, minimum 40 hours per week position (evening and weekends hours when necessary).
Classification: Non-Exempt.
Physical and Mental Demands
With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: frequent seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasionally reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, frequent sitting, standing and walking may be required for long periods of time and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include frequent lifting and or moving up to 25 pounds. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in human services or other related discipline. At least two years prior experience providing support services to families. For internal candidates, one year of that must be through Pathways.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
General knowledge/understanding of clinical administration within a behavioral health care environment. Strong clinical skills and knowledge of treatment issues concerning children, adolescents, adults, and families. Experience with foster and/or adoptive children and families and knowledge of the DFPS system. Ability to support the agency's culture, growth, and success through communication, accountability, and positivity. Ability to be clear headed and decisive based on the scope of the position. Ability to work efficiently and effectively both individually and as part of a team. Ability to appropriately accept feedback through the supervision process - thus displaying the willingness to learn, grow, and improve. Competent in using Microsoft Word, Excel, the Internet, and other software applications. Effective oral/written communication and organizational skills. Ability to effectively work as a part of a professional team.
