Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Analyst to lead Caterpillar’s Global Cash Forecast and Actuals analysis. This role owns Corporate Treasury’s analytics-based cash forecasting process, using historical cash flows, advanced analytics, and business insights to generate reliable global short- and long-term forecasts. The analyst will provide technical expertise, deliver data-driven recommendations to management, and partner with business units, legal entities, Regional Treasury Centers, and cross-functional teams to strengthen global liquidity planning and strategic Treasury decision-making.
Through participation in the Finance Leadership Development Program, the candidate will gain exposure to diverse finance disciplines, leadership development opportunities, and structured mentorship while building an enterprise perspective needed for future finance leadership roles.
What You Will Do
Lead Caterpillar’s global cash forecasting process, using analytics, historical cash flows, and business insights to produce reliable short- and long-term forecasts.
Manage and enhance the analytics-based forecasting model, using Python, SQL, and relational databases to execute monthly forecasting processes, ensure data quality, and maintain the tool’s pipelines, controls, dashboards, documentation, and supporting technology.
Maintain the quality and completeness of forecast data, investigate data issues, and ensure the model is ready for monthly forecast production.
Analyze actual cash flows against forecasts, explain key variances and business trends, and recommend forecast adjustments when appropriate.
Present the global cash forecast and key insights to senior leadership, clearly explaining complex results and influencing forward-looking messaging that support enterprise liquidity decisions.
Partner with the analytics teams to improve forecast performance through model testing, scenario analysis, and continuous refinement.
Collaborate with Treasury, Tax, regional, and business unit teams to support foreign currency exposures, funding strategies, capital deployment decisions, intercompany loan planning, and repatriation planning.
Lead strategic process improvements that strengthen forecasting accuracy, efficiency, controls, and usability.
Participate in the Finance Leadership Development Program by actively engaging in mentorship, leadership development, and enterprise learning opportunities designed to broaden business acumen and accelerate professional growth.
What You Have:
Technical and Analytical Expertise: Hands-on experience using Python, SQL, relational databases, and data analytics to manage recurring processes, analyze financial information, and translate data into business insights.
Accuracy and Ownership: Strong attention to detail, commitment to data quality, and ability to independently own processes and deliver precise, reliable results.
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Ability to evaluate complex issues, identify practical solutions, and improve processes, controls, and analytical tools.
Communication and Influence: Ability to simplify complex financial and technical concepts, present clear recommendations to senior leaders, and influence decisions through effective communication.
Collaboration and Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across Treasury, Tax, regional, business, and technical teams to achieve shared outcomes.
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Data Analytics, or a related field; relevant corporate finance or Treasury experience is preferred.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Strategic and Innovation Mindset: Leverages AI and emerging technologies to drive continuous improvement, lead change, challenge existing processes, and deliver practical business value.
Technical Process Innovation: Demonstrated ability to use technical tools to redesign and automate complex processes, improve data quality and controls, and deliver scalable solutions that create measurable business value.
Enterprise Financial Acumen: Ability to connect financial results and forecasts to cash flow, identify the underlying business drivers, and communicate a clear, forward-looking cash flow story.
