Overview
The Sr. Business Analyst is a member of the Business Development team and supports a range of financial and analytical activities within the group. The Sr. Business Analyst contributes to budgeting, pricing analysis and management reporting, while also supporting the team's interactions with rated clients. The position works closely with internal stakeholders and senior management to provide timely, accurate financial information and analysis to support business operations and decision-making.
Responsibilities
Gather, analyze and validate financial data from AMB systems to support reporting and analysis• Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for senior management and the Board of Directors• Support budgeting and planning activities, including variance analysis and performance tracking• Develop and maintain financial models and analyses to support pricing and other business initiatives• Assist in managing aspects of client relationships, including responding to inquiries and supporting commercial discussions via phone and email• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency and accuracy of financial data and reporting• Participate in the preparation of materials and presentations for senior management updates• Contribute to ongoing improvements in reporting processes and analytical tools
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred areas of study are Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field• Minimum of 5 + years of relevant experience in financial services, financial planning and analysis or related analytical role• Experience in the insurance industry or at a rating agency is a plus
Skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion • Demonstrated ability to support professional and constructive commercial interactions • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel • General understanding of financial analysis, corporate finance and accounting principles • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools (e.g. PowerBI) is a plus • Familiarity with capital markets or the ratings process is a plus • Knowledge of AM Best's products and services is a plus
