Fyfe's Energy and Resources Group works with major Australian clients to deliver specialist oil and gas, mining, future fuels and renewable power generation and storage projects across the country. These include pipelines, processing facilities, conventional and renewable power generation facilities, battery storage, as well as maintenance and construction related work programs.
Our Energy and Resources Division works with major exploration and distribution clients to deliver specialist Oil and Gas, Hydrogen and Renewable Energy projects across the country. These include upstream flowlines, leases, network gathering and distribution systems, major Gas transmission Pipelines, Oil and Gas facilities, as well as integrity, maintenance and construction related work programs.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with 5+ years of engineering design experience in the Oil & Gas and Renewables sectors. The Civil Engineer is required to deliver structural and civil design, asset integrity assessments, brownfield remediation methodologies, and construction work packs across oil & gas and renewable energy projects (including wind, solar, and BESS). The role also involves hydrology and overland flow assessment and reporting for rural and remote sites, ensuring safe, compliant, and constructible engineering solutions across a diverse asset portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Performing civil design and minor structural design for Brownfield oil & gas facilities and renewable energy developments
Undertake structural integrity assessments of existing assets and conduct site inspections and condition assessments in rural/remote environments
Assess site constraints (live operations, buried services, access limitations), carry out condition assessments / reporting
Identify and manage risks associated with ageing infrastructure and propose remediation strategies
Prepare calculations, design reports, and marked-up drawings in accordance with relevant Australian standards and codes
Develop detailed construction work packs including scope of work, methodologies, and sequencing, drawings and specifications, material take-offs (MTOs) and inspection and test plans (ITPs)
Assess overland flow paths and drainage impacts for well pads, access tracks and pipeline corridors, solar farm layouts, access roads, and inverter locations
Design drainage solutions including culverts, floodways, table drains, sediment and erosion control measures
Interpret topographic data, rainfall data, and flood mapping
Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements
About You
Bachelors degree in engineering (Civil or Structural discipline)
Minimum 5 years experience in engineering design within Oil & Gas and/or Renewable Energy
Brownfield design and structural integrity experience with hydrology, drainage design, and overland flow assessment an advantage
Proven delivery in construction or instructional work packs and other supporting field execution documentation
Experienced in TUFLOW, QGIS / Global Mapper, Tekla Tedds, SpaceGass, Hilti PROFIS Engineering, AutoCAD (Advance Steel / Civil 3D) or 12d knowledge desirable
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
