Full job description
At KCB, our purpose is Sustaining the Future. We bring this to life by delivering practical, risk informed solutions to complex environmental and engineering challenges. Guided by our values of Passion, Integrity, and Excellence, we focus on quality work, strong relationships, and long term outcomes for our clients and communities.
Our current clients include major mining companies and bulk water supply authorities. Our projects span tailings and waste storage facilities, water management structures, dams, and broader mine infrastructure. We are involved across the full project lifecycle—from feasibility and site investigation through to design, construction, commissioning, operations, and closure—providing our people with the opportunity to tackle complex challenges while continually building their technical expertise.
Who We're Looking For
To support the growth of our mine water management services, we are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Perth team, working on Australian and international mining projects. You will apply your expertise across the planning, assessment, design, and construction of tailings facilities, water dams, waste storage facilities, and mine water infrastructure.
We are looking for a hands-on technical leader who thrives on complex projects from concept to delivery. In this role, you will combine technical excellence with leadership, guiding design, mentoring engineers, and influencing technical outcomes across tailings, dams, water management, and mine infrastructure projects.
What You Will Do
As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will play a key technical and leadership role within our Perth-based team, supporting projects across Australia and globally. You will:
Engage with clients, colleagues, and suppliers on field investigations and engineering solutions
Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analyses, including flood studies, water balances, and hydraulic modelling
Incorporate climate resilience considerations into water management designs
Lead and manage mine water management projects from planning through delivery
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and design documentation
Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and operations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary and global teams to deliver integrated water management solutions
Develop client relationships and contribute to business development and proposals
Mentor and provide technical review for junior engineers
Travel to project sites within Australia and internationally as required
What You Bring
We’re looking for an experienced professional who combines strong technical capability with leadership and commercial awareness. You will have:
Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
Professional Engineer registration in Australia, or eligibility to obtain it
10+ years' experience in civil design related to surface water management, preferably in mining or related industries
Experience in hydrotechnical assessments and designs, including water balances, open channel flow, and erosion protection
Proficiency with hydrologic modelling software such as RORB, WBNM, URBS and XPRAFTS, and hydraulic modelling packages including TUFLOW and HEC-RAS
Strong project delivery experience, including planning, execution, and quality outcomes
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
Ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
What Will Set You Apart
You will thrive in this role if you have:
A passion for technical excellence and continuous improvement
A proactive, solutions-focused approach
Strong leadership, mentoring, and collaboration skills
The ability to build lasting client relationships
Experience working within global or geographically dispersed teams
An interest in representing KCB through industry conferences and professional forums
What We Offer
Additional 2.5% Superannuation
Income Protection Insurance
Parental and Volunteer Leave
Option to purchase up to 15 additional annual leave days per year
Novated Leasing
Hybrid Working Policy
Social and Mental Wellbeing Initiatives
Training and Development Opportunities
Additional incentives may be available based on company, business unit, and individual performance
