Your Opportunity
Stantec is seeking a Wildlife Biologist to join our team of environmental professionals. This position would preferably be based in our Kansas City (Overland Park), Kansas office. Our Natural Resources team spends much of the growing season in the field completing avian and wildlife surveys/monitoring, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, evaluating potential restoration sites, soil surveys, vegetation surveys, as well as office duties including, but not limited to, data analysis, reporting, restoration plans and permit application development. On a day-to-day basis, our team members also create databases and analyze field data, conduct literature research, and write environmental documents, including but not limited to: environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, biological assessments for threatened and endangered species, habitat conservation plans, permit applications and other technical reports. The team also evaluates data and creates maps using ArcGIS, coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies, and communicates with our clients. Our team works on a variety of projects while specializing in their passion and building a well-rounded base of experience. Wetland and stream delineation and assessments
Prepare and assist with written technical reports, tables, spreadsheets, databases, applications, and maps for client and regulatory agency review
Work will be conducted under the supervision of a project manager
Organize and direct field teams for a wide variety of clients and project types
Willingness to travel and conduct field work for extended periods, including overnight travel, is expected for this position. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
Development of work plans, schedules and budgets for proposals
Data collection and analysis
Technical report writing including environmental review documents
ArcGIS-online mapping and analysis
Provide quality assurance/quality control of project deliverables
This position may require up to 60% travel for project work
