Job Summary: This is a position integrated with the SRO Families United Collaborative. The SRO Families United is a multiracial, multilingual collaboration of five (5) community-based organizations (based in Chinatown, the Mission, the Tenderloin, and South of Market) that share the common goals of organizing and empowering families living in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels to both understand and defend their rights, advocate for improved conditions in their buildings, increase access to essential services, and seek safe and decent housing.
The Rental Subsidy Organizer position works with the Chinatown SRO families whose children eighteen (18) years of age and younger living in SROs, in receiving information, services and access to safe and decent housing. The Rental Subsidy Organizer (RSO) provides administrative assistance, information resources and guidance to families throughout the application process as well as housing search support until families move to the rental unit. The RSO organizes families and advocates for the continuation of the rental subsidy and housing voucher programs.
Status: Full-time, Nonexempt, Temporary (anticipated through 2031)
Location: Chinatown neighborhood, San Francisco
Hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00a.m. - 5:30p.m.,plus some weekend and night hours; must be flexible

We own and/or manage approximately 36 affordable housing buildings serving over 4,500 low-income seniors, single adults, formerly homeless adults, and families of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds in San Francisco’s Chinatown, Tenderloin, Western Addition, and Polk Gulch neighborhoods. We also build housing, develop grassroots leadership, and engage low-income residents and youth. What You Will Do
Essential Functions
Create curriculum and conduct educational workshops and outreach to families living in SRO about the rental subsidy and the various housing voucher programs.
Coordinate the communication between SRO families, the Chinatown SRO Families United Collaborative, CCDC SRO Families Rental Subsidy program, SF Housing Authority, and the property owners/management of subsidized units.
Provide administrative support and case management to families before, during and after the application process of the rental subsidy or the housing voucher program
Organize families and advocate for the extension and expansion of the rental subsidy and the housing voucher programs.
Provide support and assistance to subsidy families to apply to DAHLIA BMR unit screenings and/or to help selected families for BMRs with applications and move in requirements.
Maintain and track families' records of affordable housing of the completion of the applications through DAHLIA.
Produce and maintain records of communication with the various departments, agencies, and other stakeholders.
Maintain adequate records of funds utilized benefiting families throughout the programs’ processes.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct outreach and education efforts to SRO families about the rental subsidy program and the housing choice voucher program including disseminate subsidized housing information and opportunities (including translation of relevant information) to families.
Develop and coordinate the outreach and communication workplan and materials with supervisor and the staff from the Chinatown SRO Families United Collaborative.
Assist and work with families throughout the application process, including but not limited to conducting family assessments, providing form filling assistance, submitting documents to, and communicating with the subsidy and voucher administrators as well as coordinating Place Based Vouchers (PBV) building tours and Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) family briefings.
Guide families through the rental subsidy and Housing Authority certification process, including but not limited to housing search, schedule building tour, the unit inspections, and the move-in assistance to the rental unit, including developing a move-out package.
Assist with the creation, and use of, forms in the SRO Families Case Management system including the Subsidy Assessment form, the Needs Based Ranking, and the satisfaction surveys.
Achieve and document housing retention case management activities to subsidy/voucher families through routine check-ins to refer families to essential services as well as assess and address housing problems.
Organize families to participate in the decision-making process pertaining to the SRO families rental subsidies and housing voucher programs.
Participate in check-ins, team meetings and training on the rental subsidy and housing voucher programs.

Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Ability to speak fluently in English
Biliterate in Spanish with fluent spoken Spanish, or biliterate in Chinese with fluent spoken Cantonese.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel Spreadsheet, Google Sheets, Google Forms.
Preferred Qualifications
High school degree or GED
Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, in English and either Spanish or Chinese.
