The Health Educator implements CAPP/PREP curricula through workshops for youth and families focusing on adolescent sexuality and pregnancy prevention. They also establish partnerships with community-based organizations and provide referrals to essential health and support services.
A bachelor's degree in health education, public health, or a related field is required along with at least two years of experience in health education. Candidates must be able to facilitate discussions on reproductive health and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Summary:
The Health Educator will work under the supervision of the Health Educator Supervisor to implement CAPP/PREP curricula and programming at partnering schools and organizations. Conduct weekly educational health related workshops (individual or series of workshops) designed to educate youth and families on adolescent sexuality topics, pregnancy prevention and teaching behaviors that promote wellness at Elmcor Youth & Adult Activities. Additionally, the health educator will conduct parent workshops to enhance communication skills for the purpose of family planning and parent/child communication regarding adolescent sexual health. Health Educators will provide referrals to education and support programs that assist families in need.
