Primary Function of Position:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Equipment Engineer to manage and
maintain Fab tools running multiple processes. In this role, you will be responsible for
maintaining, optimizing, and troubleshooting various tools crucial to our semiconductor
manufacturing production line. You will work collaboratively with process engineering,
maintenance, manufacturing, vendors, and other cross-functional teams to optimize
equipment performance and reliability.
Position Roles and Responsibilities for Senior Equipment Engineer include:
Preventive Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
Responsible for managing and maintaining Fab tools running multiple processes
Make sure that the machine will be repaired in the quickest possible time in case it experiences breakdown
Perform preventive maintenance on assigned toolsets per established procedures
Oversee troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade implementations to optimize equipment performance and maximize uptime.
Plan and implement comprehensive maintenance work on machines to make sure it will always meet its required performance and reliability
Training & Mentorship:
Promoting cross-functional collaboration with R&D and production teams
Collaborate with various departments to improve equipment performance enhance yield, and minimize downtime
Provide immediate supervision to a group of equipment technicians, assigning tasks and checking work at frequent intervals
Provide useful information to SPML on issues related to machines or in other cases that would require skills and experience
Initiate and implement ways to improve the machine performance through equipment or process modifications and upgrades
Prepare and monitor the machines’ spare parts and tools
Directly interacts with manufacturing and other departments to achieve company common goals
Make sure all instruments are calibrated and properly maintained
Ensure that the machine will be running according to SPML specs
Monitor and institute necessary actions to maintain and upgrade performance
Must have good communications with machine supplier regarding machine issues and improve the machines
Investigate safety related issues and implement corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence
Provides updates to the management for issues related to tool availability, yield, cost etc.
Requirements
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with a hands-on focus upon equipment a plus
5+ years of experience in Equipment Maintenance and Repair or Equipment Engineering of relevant experience within a semiconductor fab or a similar high-tech environment
Understanding of failure mechanisms and ability to conduct root-cause analysis
Experience with hand and power tools
The willingness to work overtime as needed or required
Skills and Attributes:
A willingness to learn and develop technical knowledge in wafer fabrication
Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks
Problem-solving mindset and adaptability to changing priorities
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Commitment to fostering a safe and inclusive workspace
Physical Requirements:
Comfortable lifting 35 pounds and stand for extended periods (1-2 hours) as part of daily work
Ability to work long hours or overtime when necessary to meet deadlines
Preferred Skills and Knowledge
Project management skills and ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional projects
Strong interpersonal and training skills for mentoring and team collaboration
Experience with Lean Preventive Maintenance and continuous improvement methodology
Proficiency in data extraction and analysis from structured and unstructured sources, including tool logs, to support preventive maintenance improvements, utilizing AI tools, wherever possible
Proficiency in MS Windows software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google platform
Knowledge of control systems and/or PLC (Process Logic Control)
Mathematical proficiency, including adding, subtracting, calculating percentages, and understanding tolerances
Strong communication skills for writing clear documentation, providing feedback, and collaborating with diverse teams
Flexibility to work varying shifts and meet cleanroom requirements, including wearing PPE and adhering to cleanroom standards
