The Admitting Representative is responsible for registering new patients, verifying insurance information, and explaining reimbursement processes. They also function as the hospital operator, manage physician on-call schedules, and perform general clerical tasks.
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED and demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a stressful medical environment are required.

Respond appropriate to alarms located at switchboard.
Appropriately assign beds and works closely with nursing and accurate census at any given time.
Participates and attends meetings as required.
Accurate and complete demographic information is obtained to ensure integrity of data base.
Acts as a patient advocate, crossing multi-disciplinary lines to meet patient needs.
Give activity report to next shift of on call changes, situations in ER, House Manager, etc.
Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies Other duties as assigned.

Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Sedentary. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 0-10 lbs.
