About the Role:

Ryt Bank is seeking an experienced and analytical professional to join our Credit Evaluation team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for evaluating credit proposals, assessing financial and non-financial risks, and structuring appropriate financing solutions for SME and mid-sized corporate clients. The candidate is required to have a strong knowledge of local market dynamics and industry-specific risks.

You’ll be shaping how the bank understands, manages, and mitigates risk in a rapidly evolving banking space and economic environment. Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough credit assessments for SME and mid-sized corporate clients, including financial statement analysis, bank statement analysis, business model evaluation, and industry benchmarking.
• Review credit proposals ensuring alignment with internal risk appetite and regulatory guidelines.
• Familiar with business financing product structures, corresponding risk exposures and potential mitigants (covenants, collaterals).
• Present credit proposals and recommendations to Credit Committee with clear articulation of risk–return rationale.
• Interview or seek clarifications from clients together with RMs if required
• Support the business in structuring of financing solutions tailored to client needs, by providing analytics and insights, while aligning with the bank’s risk appetite.
• Support methodology development or refinement of credit evaluation, provide feedback and inputs to improve assessment approach.

Industry Expertise

• Build and maintain insights across a wide range of industries, to anticipate risks and opportunities.
• Strong understanding of SME’s business and financing needs, nature of credit behaviour.
• Strong understanding of products offerred in the market , across banks and non-banks
• Provide thought leadership and insights to further refining lending strategies for different industries

Stakeholder Engagement

• Provide insights and collaborate with Account Relationship Managers, Risk, Legal, Operations and Compliance teams to deliver a complete and comprehensive credit assessment while ensuring the governance process is adhered to.
• Participate in credit committee discussions and support decision-making with sound rationale.
• Present to Credit Committee, Risk Management Committee and Board where required.

Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines, internal credit policies.
• Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify early warning signals by identifying potential risks, stress-test assumptions, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Contribute to the enhancement of credit models, scoring/scorecard tools, and sectoral risk frameworks.
• Assist with other risk-related tasks and initiatives as assigned by the Chief Risk Officer.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related discipline; professional certifications (CPA, CFA, Chartered Banker) preferred..
• 12-15 years of experience in credit underwriting, preferably in SME, mid-market or corporate banking within Malaysia.
• Proven track record in underwriting corporate loans, particularly in working capital and project financing.
• Strong financial modelling, analysis, cash-flow lending, credit analysis, debt structuring.
• Strong exposure to multiple industries, with the ability to assess unique business and sector risks.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders and committees.
