Requirements
Candidates must have 6+ years of experience in technology business management or IT finance within a large enterprise environment. Proficiency in tools like Oracle EBS, Planview, and Tungsten Network is required, along with strong financial acumen.
Full job description
We are seeking a talented individual to join our AMSI at Marsh Tech. This role will be based in Gurugram. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.
Manager - Business Management
Marsh is seeking a Senior Specialist, Technology Business Management to join our AMS Technology organization. Reporting to the Leader – IT Management, this role is responsible for managing the P&L for the technology function, overseeing all external spend (software and professional services), and ensuring financial discipline across the department. This is a business management role — not a finance role — but requires strong financial acumen and the ability to partner closely with FP&A, Controllership, and Procurement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator who thrives at the intersection of technology and business operations, with deep experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes in a large enterprise environment.
What can you expect?
P&L and Budget Management
Own and manage the technology P&L, ensuring all expenditures are tracked, forecasted, and within approved budgets.
Develop and maintain annual and quarterly budget forecasts for all external spend, including software licenses, SaaS subscriptions, professional services, and contractor resources.
Partner with technology leaders to build bottoms-up forecasts and provide variance analysis against plan.
Track actuals vs. budget on a monthly basis; identify risks and opportunities proactively.
Perform ad-hoc financial modeling (e.g., contract closures, transition costs) and present impacts to leadership.
Procurement and Purchase Orders
Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in Oracle EBS for all technology-related procurement.
Ensure POs are properly coded, approved, and aligned to budget allocations.
Cut POs for AMS and maintain PO lifecycle (create, approve, close complete POs).
Serve as the primary point of contact for procurement-related inquiries within the technology organization.
Vendor and Invoice Management
Work directly with vendors to ensure invoices are submitted accurately and on time.
Manage the end-to-end invoice workflow in Tungsten Network, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies.
Review and approve invoices submitted by team members, validating they are within budget and properly categorized.
Maintain a vendor management tracker and ensure contract compliance.
Ensure contractors are costed in rate cards aligned with contract financials and clearly mapped to their SOWs.
Maintain software tracker, including one-time credits vs. savings.
Portfolio and Resource Planning
Leverage Planview to support capacity planning, demand management, and portfolio visibility.
Ensure resource forecasts (both internal and external) are aligned with project plans and budgets.
Reforecast monthly in Planview (primarily AMS codes).
Coordinate and submit labor and non-labor loads (primarily AMS codes).
Ensure forecasting and actuals align in Planview and that labor load processes integrate with monthly forecasting.
Reminder and follow-up for resources not in Planview; ensure offboarded resources are removed from Planview.
Cross-Functional Partnership
Partner with FP&A on monthly close, quarterly forecasting, and annual planning cycles.
Work with Controllership to ensure proper accruals, capitalization, and expense classification.
Collaborate with Procurement/Sourcing on vendor negotiations, contract renewals, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Support internal and external audit requests related to technology spend.
Answer pillar leads’ questions on variances between budget/forecast/actuals; must understand invoicing, receipting, and GL differences.
Process Improvement and Governance
Establish and enforce spend governance policies and approval workflows for the technology organization.
Identify opportunities to optimize spend, consolidate vendors, and improve cost efficiency.
Develop dashboards and reporting to provide leadership with visibility into budget health and spend trends.
Maintain long-range planning (LRP) inputs — ensure the maintenance of operational trackers feeds the 3-year view.
Required Qualifications
6+ years of experience in technology business management, IT finance, program management, or a related business operations role within a technology organization.
Proven experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and P&L ownership.
Working knowledge of Tungsten Network (or similar e-invoicing/invoice automation platforms).
Experience with Planview (or similar portfolio/resource management tools such as Clarity, ServiceNow SPM).
Strong understanding of the purchase-to-pay (P2P) lifecycle.
Demonstrated ability to partner with FP&A, Controllership, and Procurement teams.
Excellent financial acumen — ability to read and interpret financial statements, build forecasts, and perform variance analysis.
Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and data analysis.
What is in it for you?
Business Acumen — Understands how technology investments drive business outcomes and can translate financial data into actionable insights.
Operational Rigor — Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial tracking and reporting.
Stakeholder Management — Skilled at building relationships across technology, finance, and procurement organizations.
Problem Solving — Proactive in identifying issues and driving resolution; comfortable operating in ambiguity.
Communication — Able to present complex financial information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you need to have:
Experience in a large enterprise or Fortune 500 technology organization.
Background in IT consulting, technology operations, or enterprise PMO.
Familiarity with software asset management (SAM) and SaaS spend optimization.
Experience with BI/reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar).
PMP, MBA, or relevant professional certification is a plus.
This is not a Finance or Accounting position. The successful candidate will sit within the Technology organization and operate as a business partner focused on operational execution, spend management, and vendor coordination — not on corporate financial reporting or treasury functions.
This role is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned business management professional to have a direct impact on how a technology organization plans, allocates, and governs its financial resources.
