Nederman Corporation is seeking a Applications Engineer for our US division headquartered at our Charlotte America’s headquarters. In this position, you will serve as the division’s Application Engineer lead responsible for the successful on-site integration of the sold projects. You will work closely with the customer, sales managers and combined project team to design and gain acceptance of the turn-key sold solution design. In this role, you will report directly to the VP Technical Solutions & Business Development. The ideal candidate will possess solid engineering and solutions system design capability and also be effective at communications with the customer, solutions sales managers and project team in the development of accurate quotations and technical requirements for successful project integration. The candidate will leverage their expertise to assist channel partners, consulting engineers and contractors in the proper selection and application of industrial clean air solutions.

Responsibilities and Duties
Work with the Field Sales organization, Product Managers and Engineering to answer questions on sizing, application and available modifications to standard Solutions. Coordinate with internal team to develop Special Quotes for unique requirements that do not fit standard product offerings. Tracks and communicates the progress (internally and externally) as required.
Applies extensive and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles, technical validity and product application capabilities to ensure successful solutions, compliance to specifications and projects that achieve the customer’s needs. Work closely with sales team on development of project budget costs, timelines, and proposed solutions.
Develop solution concepts and sales proposals for complex projects using ProQuote to design and model systems; estimate costs and collaborate with Technical Solutions and Project Management to accurately define scope, value, and cost of ownership, including comparisons to alternative technologies or operating approaches.
For complex solutions, serve as the technical lead, guiding Solutions and Controls Engineering teams in defining sequences of operation and key parameters; oversee system development to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards, and develop operation and maintenance guides for specialized applications.
Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide creative solutions to ensure customer’s and companies project needs are achieved. Utilize DFMEA as a methodical approach for identifying potential risks introduced in a new or changed design of a product/service.
Participate in product localization, standardization, BOD (Basis of Design) and development programs to ensure product breadth meets the requirements of the local market. Coordinate and prioritize BOD development for use in key target markets.
Deep dive to understand how problems occur with applications and how they can be prevented or resolved. Fine tune existing or develop new custom internal tools for application monitoring. Monitor application performance and make recommendations to improve overall application proficiency. Troubleshoot, manage, and resolve production applications, products, and processes.
Contribute to knowledge base to disseminate product knowledge throughout the company. Communicate with customers as the technical expert on behalf of the sales team to ensure a concise understanding of the products and solutions services. Provide technical support to our purchasing team and suppliers to ensure components meet required specifications.
This is a customer/sales-facing position, providing assistance through standard support channels (phone, email, and in-person meetings), and working with many departments, including Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, Operations, and General Management.
Serve as the customer’s technical liaison, working cross-functionally with other Sales team members, Engineering, Purchasing, Project Management, Operations, Technical Support, and other corporate resources to provide solutions for the customer using the Company’s current offerings and create custom solutions. Conduct site evaluations of existing systems to propose upgrades to existing solutions.
Utilize and maintain the company CRM system to track and retain customer information.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology required
3 to 5 years of relevant experience as a product / solutions engineer in key target markets.
Must be proficient in AutoCad/AutoDesk design software & Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
Experience with ERP and CRM systems highly desired
Ability to perform DFMEA activities (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) is preferred
Willingness to learn new technology and accept personal responsibility for own development and performance.
Working knowledge of industrial ventilation design and air pollution control solutions is required.
Able to travel as necessary to support sales, product development and industry selection (25%+ domestic / international travel)
Must be a pro-active self-starter with the ability to work independently
