The Montana Department of Revenue administers approximately 40 state taxes, property appraisals, alcoholic beverage laws, cannabis laws, and unclaimed property for the state of Montana. The Property Assessment Division (PAD) manages Montana’s property assessment and valuation of all taxable property for property tax purposes.PAD is comprised of the Geographic Information System Unit, Program Support Unit, Valuation Unit, Industrial Unit, Division Administration team, and approximately 30 local field offices in various counties in Montana.

Job Overview:
This position resides in the Property Assessment Divisionof Department of Revenue.The Property Record Specialist (PRS) performs various duties assigned by management. They ensure that property values in the county are accurately recorded, regularly updated, and certified each year for fair and accurate property tax billings. This role supports taxpayers, county officials, and other stakeholders by maintaining reliable property records, processing ownership and sales information, and assisting with taxpayer programs and appeals.
Some travel may be required, must have a valid driver’s license.
This job cannot be performed at an alternate work site.

Employees must meet and sustain Department of Revenue telework eligibility requirements and supervisor's approval to participate in the DOR Telework Program. Full-time teleworking is not available.
Training Assignment: This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
Successful applicants are required to successfully pass DOR tax and background check(s).
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
The qualifications desired on the first day of work are:
One year of post-secondary education or training; and
One year of job-related experience.
Work experience may include appraisal, assessment, auditing, accounting, banking, data entry, bookkeeping, records management, customer service or a real estate related field.
You must pass the department’s CORE Assessment training, within the first year of employment.
Other combinations of education and experience will be evaluated on an individual basis.
