Responsibilities
The specialist assists in the daily operations and program planning for the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks AmeriCorps program. They also support AmeriCorps members throughout their service term and assist in the preparation of grant applications.
Requirements
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Public Administration, or Education, along with at least 2 years of related work experience. Experience with AmeriCorps, volunteer management, and grant writing is preferred.

Specific Job Information:
This position works in a professional office environment with regular pressure to meet important deadlines. Physical demands are minimal; however, there are long periods of telephone and computer use while sitting in a confined position, particularly during periods when there are tight deadlines. Stressful positions may occur while managing AmeriCorps members that include interpersonal or scheduling conflicts that directly impacts member experience. This position also requires overnight travel approximately 15-20%25 of the time and potentially up to 30%25 which may require time in adverse environmental conditions while supporting members. Occasional evening and weekend work may require a greater than 40-hour work week. Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 35 pounds.M-F 8AM-5PM with occasionally evening and weekend work.
Position is eligible for two days of remote work per week, per FWP Policy, after the Probationary period (i.e. 1 year) is complete.
Situated in west-central Montana, the beautiful city of Helena has the amenities and culture of a state capitol while being close to outstanding hiking, camping, fishing and boating opportunities. It is also within 3 ½ hours of both Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks, two crown jewels of our national park system.
Job Duties:
The Americorps Program Development Specialist assists the AmeriCorps, Interpretation, and Volunteer Program Manager in providing both daily and program planning functions to implement the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks AmeriCorps (MTFWPA) program and to support AmeriCorps members throughout their term of service.The position also assists in the preparation of an AmeriCorps grant application.
The specialist works with field managers to develop and define methods, procedures, and techniques to implement practical, educational, and meaningful AmeriCorps member tasks to support the agency and its mission.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
The knowledge, skills and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology, Liberal Arts, Education, Natural Resources, and 2 years of related work experience. Experience with AmeriCorps or volunteer program management, as well as grant writing is preferred.
Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
