Responsibilities
The Student Office Assistant manages day-to-day administrative tasks, including greeting visitors, handling phone inquiries, and performing clerical duties. They also assist with facility maintenance, building walkthroughs, and marketing events to support residence hall operations.
Requirements
Candidates must be current Towson University students with a high school diploma and the ability to work up to 20 hours per week. Applicants should possess strong customer service, communication, and basic office equipment skills, along with the physical ability to lift 35 pounds.

Reports To: Assistant Director of Operations
Compensation: $15.00 per hour for up to of 20 hours per week. Position is not eligible for benefits.
FLSA Status: Student Non-Exempt
Summary:
A Student Assistant is responsible for assisting with day-to-day office tasks and preventative maintenance in the communities. Student Assistants greet visitors, answer and direct telephone calls, monitor access to the buildings, and perform other clerical and maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administrative Responsibilities:
Welcomes on-site visitors, determines the nature of business, and announces visitors to appropriate personnel.
Receives payments and issues receipts.
Troubleshooting and answering incoming telephone calls, determining their purpose, and forwarding calls to the appropriate person, personnel, or department. Taking and delivering messages or transferring calls to voicemail when appropriate personnel are unavailable.
Assists with all advertising/marketing events to ensure a 100% occupancy.
Operates computer terminals to input and retrieve data.
Assists in maintaining resident files for accuracy and accountability.
Assists with leasing/marketing of apartments/rooms by providing information to prospective families.
Assists with necessary clerical duties, such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters concerning students and staff alike.
Assists with distributing items to apartments.
Enforcing policies/ procedures of the residence halls and the university (including campus, state, and federal regulations).
Assist with basic facility responsibilities such as building walkthroughs, notating damages, and submitting work orders.
Must participate in mandatory events such as Move-In and Move Out.
Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Must have troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to operate basic office equipment including a photocopier, fax, and telephone. Basic typing and filing skills.
Ability to lift up to 35lbs and navigate up and down stairs.
