Performs complex installation, maintenance, and repair of medium and low voltage electrical systems across municipal properties. Supervises technical staff and contractors while ensuring compliance with National Electrical Codes and safety policies.
Requires a high school diploma and four years of experience with medium/low voltage equipment, including two years as a Licensed Master Electrician. Must possess a City of Rochester Master Electrician license, a NYS Driver's license, and a NYS Licensed Alarm Installer Certificate.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An employee in this class performs the more difficult and complex building, installing, maintaining, and repair tasks of rough and finished electrical systems of both medium and low voltage in and of municipal properties. Occasionally performs high voltage work, reviews high voltage projects and contract work. The incumbent works independently with general supervision from a higher-level employee. The Master Electrician may direct and review the work of outside contractors as assigned. Supervision may be exercised over the work of a staff of technical and maintenance workers. This employee may be required to respond to emergency situations outside regular work hours. Related work is performed as required.
ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (CONTINUED):
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or Equivalent AND:
Four (4) years of experience with medium and low voltage equipment, two (2) years of which must be as a Licensed Master Electrician.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
*Licensure for #1, #2, and #3 must be maintained throughout employment in this title.
