The Registered Respiratory Therapist manages the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pulmonary disorders using various testing techniques. Responsibilities include operating mechanical ventilators, administering inhaled medications, and educating patients on disease management.
Candidates must hold an Associate's Degree in Respiratory Care and be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certified by the NBRC. Required certifications include BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association, along with a state RCP license.
The Registered Respiratory Therapist oversees the diagnosis, treatment, and care management of patients with pulmonary disorders at Franciscan. This position uses a variety of testing techniques to assist doctors in diagnosing disorders, and determines requirements for treatment, such as type, method and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, or medication and dosages, compatible with physicians' orders.
