The role involves teaching Medical Assisting classes, facilitating student progress toward CMA certification, and providing skills tutoring. Additionally, the professor will mentor adjunct faculty and participate in campus committees to improve student success.
A Master's degree in an allied health field and a nationally-recognized certification such as CMA, RMA, or RN are required. Candidates must have successful work experience in a clinical, medical office, or laboratory setting.
Responsibilities:
§ Teach 15 -21 contact hours in Medical Assisting classes based on qualifications and college need
§ Facilitate student progress in achieving theory and performance requirements of the program, including CMA pass rates
§ Provide skills assistance, tutoring, and workshops related to Medical Assisting skills
§ Assist in developing and utilize instructional plans, course blueprints, and business connects
§ Serve on campus committees and participate in campus events
§ Mentor adjunct faculty members
§ Develop, implement, and assess strategies and techniques for improved student retention and success
§ Ensure instructional success and model lifelong learning through continuous professional development
§ Complete and maintain a teaching portfolio
§ Be available to teach both day, evening classes at any Syracuse campus
Qualifications:
§ Master’s degree in allied health field required
§ Hold or be eligible for a nationally-recognized field certification such as CMA, RMA, RN
§ Successful work experience required in clinic, medical office, or laboratory setting involving clinical skills
§ Effective in directing and evaluating student learning and laboratory performance
§ Teaching experience or aptitude preferred
§ Working knowledge of computer software and research databases
§ Demonstrated commitment to professional development and student success
§ Commitment to continuous curriculum enhancement and application of best practices
§ Strong team player
§ Ability to make meaningful and positive connections with diverse student body in a career college environment
Salary range:
$52,000-$55,000

The selected candidate’s actual base pay for this role will take into account a wide range of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
