Provide audio-visual services and technical support for events managed by the Division of Student Affairs. Responsibilities include the setup, operation, and breakdown of AV equipment and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.
Must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at UVA in good academic standing. Ability to perform moderately heavy physical lifting up to 35 lbs and possess excellent customer service skills is required.
The Audio Visual (AV) Assistants’ primary responsibility is to provide audio visual services and technological support for many spaces and events managed through the Division of Student Affairs at the University of Virginia by its Event Managment Office. AV Assistants respond promptly to requests for technical support for events and activities in these spaces and troubleshoot issues and complications as they arise. AV Assistants also are responsible for the setup, operation, and breakdown of equipment as needed. Examples include items such as microphones, sound systems, projectors, screens, video conferencing equipment, lighting equipment, etc. AV Assistants provide full-service support in the operation of movie projection in the Newcomb Theater and equipment in the Newcomb Ballroom. AV Assistants work directly with and take direction from the Audio-Visual Manager, AV Support Technician, and other professional staff.
Duration: 2025-2026 academic year. Employment ends May 8, 2026. Workers in good standing may be offered the opportunity to return for upcoming semesters, including summer sessions (voluntary) if interested.

Pay: Hiring Rate $14.53/hour
Hours: Shifts are regularly scheduled between 7:00 a.m.to 12:00 a.m., Monday – Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Sundays.
Hours Per Week: Up to 20 hours per week
Duration: 2026-2027 academic year. Employment ends May 8, 2027. Workers in good standing may be offered the opportunity to return for upcoming semesters.
