Full job description
About Nevoya:
Nevoya is North America's leading next-generation electric trucking carrier, transforming logistics through AI-native operations and relentless customer focus. The company builds and uses proprietary technology to deliver zero-emissions carrier services to Fortune 500 shippers with superior economics and service to legacy diesel operators. The company has operations in California and Texas, and is backed by globally-renowned investors including Lowercarbon Capital.
About the Role:
Nevoya is seeking a hands-on transportation leader to own the daily execution of our Texas transportation operation. The Transportation Manager, Operations leads the dispatch team and the operating rhythm that connects customers, loads, drivers, equipment, charging, service recovery, and load closeout.
This is not a desk-only management role. You will set priorities, coach decision-making, remove barriers, and step into live operations. You will build a team that acts with ownership, communicates clearly, and solves problems at the right level, knowing when an issue requires escalation.
You will also turn frontline experience into a stronger operating system by standardizing handoffs, improving data quality, identifying recurring failure points, and partnering with Safety, Fleet, Customer Success, Commercial, Finance, Product, and Engineering. As Nevoya expands its electric fleet, this leader will help convert new capacity into safe, reliable, and profitable service.
Schedule: 0700-1700
What You’ll Own:
Team Leadership & Coverage:
Lead, coach, and develop Dispatchers across day, evening, overnight, and weekend coverage.
Set clear daily and weekly priorities, decision rights, workload assignments, and escalation expectations.
Build dispatcher capability through observation, feedback, scenario coaching, cross-training, and documented development plans.
Own staffing plans, shift coverage, schedules, attendance response, onboarding, and training in partnership with Transportation leadership and People Operations.
Establish disciplined shift handoffs so open loads, driver risks, equipment constraints, customer commitments, and next actions transfer cleanly.
Step directly into dispatch during callouts, peak demand, service failures, or other time-sensitive operating events.
Transportation Execution:
Direct daily load planning and dispatch execution from order acceptance through pickup, delivery, proof of delivery, and operational closeout.
Ensure drivers receive accurate assignments, timely support, and clear instructions; resolve routing, appointment, facility, accessorial, pay, and home-time issues.
Manage Hours of Service, driver availability, route feasibility, and exception planning before they become service failures.
Coordinate EV range and charging plans, accounting for route, dwell, charger access, equipment availability, and customer commitments.
Maintain real-time visibility to every active load and ensure operating systems, telematics, and customer updates accurately reflect current status.
Coordinate equipment readiness and service recovery with Fleet and Maintenance; escalate defects, roadside events, and capacity risks with clear ownership and follow-through.
Customer, Driver & Cross-Functional Partnership:
Create trust with drivers and customers through accurate commitments, proactive communication, and reliable follow-through.
Serve as the senior operations escalation point for dispatch, driver, broker, vendor, and customer service issues.
Partner with Customer Success and Commercial to communicate risks, recover service, understand changing volume, and translate customer expectations into executable operating plans.
Partner with Safety and Compliance to reinforce DOT, Hours of Service, inspection, incident-reporting, and company requirements.
Work with Finance and Billing to improve document control, proof-of-delivery capture, accessorial support, load closeout, and revenue accuracy.
Bring clear operating evidence to Product and Engineering, participate in testing, and help prioritize workflow or system improvements without shifting day-to-day operating ownership away from the transportation team.
Performance & Continuous Improvement:
Own a daily and weekly operating cadence that reviews service, safety, utilization, staffing, driver and equipment risks, customer issues, and unresolved actions.
Track performance using trusted data and investigate gaps before drawing conclusions or tying results to accountability.
Identify recurring failures, determine whether the root cause is people, process, technology, capacity, or structure, and lead practical corrective action.
Create, maintain, train, and audit standard operating procedures for dispatch, handoffs, escalation, exception management, and load closeout.
Forecast volume, driver, tractor, trailer, and charging needs; surface constraints early and recommend operating responses.
Support launches of new fleets, customers, and lanes, then optimize those operations for reliable performance.
How Success Will Be Measured:
Safe execution: preventable incidents, Hours of Service compliance, inspection completion, and timely escalation of safety or equipment concerns.
Reliable service: on-time pickup and delivery, dispatch accuracy, proactive exception communication, and effective service recovery.
Productive capacity: tractor and driver utilization, loaded-mile percentage, empty miles, route and charge-plan adherence, and capacity coverage.
Economic performance: revenue and contribution performance, avoidable accessorial or recovery cost, billing readiness, and document accuracy.
Team effectiveness: schedule coverage, dispatcher proficiency, escalation quality, cross-training depth, accountability, and retention.
Operating discipline: clean shift handoffs, accurate system data, timely load closeout, recurring-issue reduction, and completion of corrective actions.
What You’ll Bring:
5+ years of transportation, fleet, logistics, or dispatch experience, including 2+ years leading people in a live transportation operation.
Demonstrated success managing drivers, dispatchers, equipment, customer commitments, and operational exceptions in an asset-based or dedicated environment.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service, ELDs, driver safety, equipment readiness, and common transportation operating practices.
Experience using a TMS, telematics, routing, dispatch, or fleet-management platform; strong Excel or equivalent analytical capability.
Ability to interpret operating and financial metrics, identify root causes, and convert findings into clear actions and accountability.
Strong written and verbal communication with the judgment to be calm, direct, and specific during high-pressure events.
Willingness and ability to work in a 24/7 operation, including rotating on-call support and nights or weekends when business conditions require it.
Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, logistics, supply chain, or a related field—or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Experience:
Dedicated, private-fleet, local, regional, drayage, or relay-network operations.
Responsibility for an operating budget, P&L inputs, revenue, cost, or margin improvement.
Electric Class 8 vehicles, commercial charging operations, alternative-fuel fleets, or other range- and energy-constrained transportation.
Launching a new fleet, customer, terminal, market, operating model, or transportation technology.
Working in a fast-growing company where processes and systems are still being built.
How We Work:
Ownership: Take initiative, accept responsibility for outcomes, and close the loop.
Humility: Bring low ego and high respect; listen to the frontline and let the best evidence win.
Agility: Act decisively, adapt when conditions change, and keep the operation moving.
Growth Mindset: Coach, learn, test, improve, and make the system stronger after every disruption.
At Nevoya, we believe diverse teams build better solutions.
We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all employees. We consider all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
