Full job description
LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions. If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.
Role Purpose
The Director, Fleet Systems will establish the operating models, service policies, and technology behind the TX Ready-to-Go (TXR), TX Bookable (TXB), accessible TX, and allocated vehicle programs from the ground up before the Games. You will turn service levels into executable plans, decide with incomplete information, and enable operations and technology partners to succeed. At Games-time, your work becomes the accessible, resilient fleet system that keeps the Olympic and Paralympic Games moving.
Key Responsibilities
Establish the strategy, operating models, and plans for TX, allocated vehicles, and assigned fleet systems, translating service levels and competition schedules into demand forecasts and vehicle and driver requirements.
Define and integrate the fleet technology — booking platforms, dispatch, vehicle allocation, GPS/AVL, telematics, and driver applications — with relevant Games systems.
Partner across Functional Areas, automotive partners, and suppliers, and lead readiness simulations and exercises for the Fleet Operations Center.
Direct service-side control of TX and allocated vehicles in the Fleet Operations Center at Games-time, coordinating bookings, dispatch, allocations, and service recovery.
Build and lead the Fleet Systems team; manage budgets, schedules, risks, and suppliers; and set performance indicators that guide decisions.
Required Competencies
8+ years of progressively responsible experience in fleet operations, mobility, transportation technology, logistics, or major-event operations, including leadership — or a Master's degree and 6+ years of relevant experience, or 10+ years of specialized professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in demand forecasting, fleet sizing, vehicle allocation, dispatch, and operational control for complex vehicle systems serving multiple stakeholder groups.
Experience implementing or integrating fleet-management systems, booking platforms, GPS/AVL, telematics, and driver applications.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional programs and manage teams, budgets, schedules, risks, and suppliers in a time-critical environment.
A bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business, Operations, Technology, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
Valued Experience
Relevant professional certifications — PMP, fleet management, transportation, logistics, or technology — are an asset.
Delivering large-scale fleet or demand-responsive transport programs at the Olympic, Paralympic, or other major events, including accessible and electric-vehicle fleets.
Background in corporate fleet, chauffeur, taxi, ride-hail, or other demand-responsive transport.
What We Offer
A once-in-a-career chance to establish a fleet system that runs on the world stage.
Real ownership and visible impact across Transportation, Technology, and delivery partners.
Transferable experience and a teammate network that outlast the Games.
What This Role Means for the Games
Reliable, accessible transport gets athletes to the start line and the Games family between venues on time. The systems you establish shape that experience for everyone who depends on TX and allocated vehicles across the Games.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Works across office, venue, operational-center, and fleet environments, traveling across the Games footprint.
Flexible and extended hours during peak delivery periods.
Alternates between systems monitoring and on-site coordination.
Compensation
The annual base salary range for this position is $126,000 - $182,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
