Reports To:Grooming/Snowmaking Supervisor
Position Overview
Snowmakers work as part of the Mountain Operations team. They are responsible for assisting in the smooth running of the snowmaking operation including, but not limited to, snowmaking, maintenance, and regular equipment/system checks.
Snowmakers are expected to provide their own ski/snowboard equipment.
This is a full-time, seasonal role 7 of 14 days over a two-week period throughout the operating season from October to mid-February. The rotation is 4 on 3 off, 3 on 4 off, 12 hours per shift. Trail crew shifts are available at times when snowmaking shifts are not. Trail crew shifts are 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday under the direction of the Safety Operations or Special Events depts. Please note that you may not receive full-time hours at the beginning/end of the season and during other slow periods.
The incumbent should expect to be working outside in any, all and sometimes adverse weather conditions.
Alberta Employment Standards regarding a ninety-day probationary period applies.
Job duties/ Responsibilities:
Set up and take down snowmaking equipment
Transfer snow guns and hoses to different locations around the mountain
Complete daily checks, maintain proper working order of snow guns and equipment
Point out any safety concerns which would put any employee in an unsafe situation
Successfully complete Marmot Basin Snowmobile and ATV training
Assist in all emergency situations
Assist other departments as required and perform all duties as assigned
Adherence to the company’s practices and procedures as set in the ‘Snowmaking Training Manual’
All Marmot Basin employees will conduct themselves in compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety legislation as it relates to their job
Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older
Provide own riding equipment
Intermediate skiing or snowboarding ability
Must possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude
Enjoy working outdoors in the winter
Willing to work flexible shifts
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or better) in good standing

Previous snowmaking or snowcat operating experience (an asset)
Ski Industry experience (an asset)
Mechanical background; experience working with pumps and/or high-pressure equipment (an asset)
