The Security Officer maintains a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, and team members. Provides protective and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and property. Prepare incident and accident reports accurately and in the format specified by the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Performs Security rounds of the hotel and office tower as follows:
Restaurant and Banquet level
All Lobby Areas and the Associates Entrance
All Guest Floors
Executive Offices
Service levels (back of the house areas)
Office Tower lobby and floors
Loading Dock
Perimeter of the Building
Visits all locations requiring special attention as frequently as required.
Responds immediately to those emergency incidents and Security requests to which he is assigned.
Ensures maximum guest, associates, office tower and hotel safety and security at all times.
Is courteous, tactful, and helpful, but firm in enforcing hotel policies and procedures.
Reports in writing on all activities during each shift before leaving the hotel, with oral reports and emergency notifications delivered as directed by the established Security procedures.
Performs duties as assigned by the Management Team and responds to directions from any Executive Committee member or any member of Management.
Creates and always maintains the highest standards of Security, being professional in attitude, appearance, and application.
Checks associates leaving and entering the hotel at the beginning and end of shift, or at any time when an associate leaves the hotel. Collects all package passes and inspects parcels taken from the hotel.
Greets all Office Tower tenants and guest maintaining the management and safety of the office tower lobby and floors.
Politely greets guests of the Office Tower, directs them to their desired destination while maintaining a record of their visit.
Monitors the Security of the receiving dock.
Confiscates all unauthorized parcels etc., and notifies the Operations Manager and the appropriate department head.
Checks all I.D's of the hotel staff and provides information and direction upon proper identification of all job applicants, salesmen, etc. Notifies the department head involved for permission for non-staff personnel to enter the premises.
Does not leave assigned station unless properly relieved as specified by another member of the Security team. Performs all necessary clerical requirements of the Security team under the supervision of the Operations Manager or Security Supervisor. This includes filing, processing work orders, ordering supplies, maintaining necessary schedules, and posting bulletin board information.
Protects hotel from admission of undesirables and others not conducting legitimate business within the premises.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company.
Provide accurate information to inquirers for directions and hours of operations.
Receive, record and secure found property. Research and respond to guests inquiries for lost property.
Assist guests with door lock and in room safe problems using moderately complex hand held electronic apparatus.
Escort guests and employees as required to parking lots.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Thorough knowledge of the floor plans and layout of the building(s), function rooms, and working knowledge of the City and surrounding area.
Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.
Ability to listen effectively, speak, read and write English clearly to ascertain and document important information.
Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift.
Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on the property.
Ability to follow written and or verbal instructions.
Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing up to 50 lbs. sufficient manual dexterity in hands.
Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace.
Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges.
Red Cross and First Aid Certified.
Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Safety Requirements
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when performing work duties that may have the potential of risk to your health or safety. The hotel will provide the required PPE. Associates will be trained in the proper use and care of any assigned PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
