Job Posting Sessional Lecturer - CHI103H5F Introductory Chinese I
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.
Intended for students with none or minimal background in Mandarin or any Chinese dialects, this course provides a comprehensive introduction to phonetics and written form of Modern Standard Chinese (Mandarin) and covers the topics of functional Chinese at beginner level.
Class schedule:
Section 0101: Mondays and Wednesdays (3:00pm-5:00pm)
Section 0201: Mondays and Wednesdays (5:00pm-7:00pm)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,228.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Ph.D. in Chinese language pedagogy, literature, linguistics, or a related field is required.
Demonstrated knowledge in the area of second language acquisition or Chinese linguistics and experience teaching university-level Chinese language courses are required.
(Near-)native fluency in Mandarin Chinese is required.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course or a closely related university-level course is preferred.
Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.
