Position Summary:
The Emory Pain Center is seeking a dynamic and collaborative clinical psychologist with expertise in pain management to join our interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering evidence-based psychological interventions to patients with complex acute and chronic pain, while also contributing to integrated clinical care, education, and research efforts.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing academic pain program committed to innovation, comprehensive care, and improving quality of life for patients through interdisciplinary approaches.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group-based psychological assessments and interventions for patients with chronic pain conditions (e.g., CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based approaches).
Participate in integrated care models alongside physicians, APPs, and other specialists to develop individualized treatment plans.
Work collaboratively with faculty to design and implement protocols that embed behavioral health into perioperative pain care pathways, opioid tapering, and neuromodulation.
Support the development and delivery of educational programs for pain fellows, residents, and medical students.
Contribute to clinical research and quality improvement projects related to behavioral pain medicine.
Maintain appropriate documentation and adherence to best practices and ethical standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship with a focus in pain psychology, health psychology, or behavioral medicine.
Licensed (or license-eligible) to practice psychology in the state of Georgia.
Experience with interdisciplinary pain care and evidence-based treatments for chronic pain.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong commitment to team-based care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in academic medical centers.
Interest in contributing to research, grant applications, and program development.
Familiarity with integrated EHR documentation workflows and measurement-based care.
